Think we've all thawed out from our chilly night under canvas for our The Duke of Edinburgh's Award residential! We had a great time and learnt lots about ourselves and others along the way. We are so proud of our interns for committing to this experience - proving their work ethic, dedication, resilience and adaptability!

A fab day at The Springboard Project Hub introducing our newest phases of our Duke of Edinburgh Award -
🚶‍♀️Physical - almost 2 mile walk with different aims (to lose weight, to increase fitness, to make me less out of breath when I walk…)
🧩 Skills - developing knowledge and understanding of games (interns each had a different game to understand, then had to explain it to the others ready for a competition)
🪡 Skills - learn how to sew (some repairs were made, others practised their sewing skills)

The interaction, communication, team work, sportsmanship, patience (the list goes on…) on show today was amazing. Watching the interns become more confident each week is an honour!!

So so proud of the interns for their hard work creating their treasure hunt for the Springfield School, Crewe Christmas Fayre. They prepared it all and manned the stall. Here’s one intern with our prize winner- well done to everyone who found out that the elf was called Bartholomew!

The interns had a great day out with East Exped on the The Duke of Edinburgh's Award training day. We're prepared for the residential now and have demonstrated:

✅team work
✅communication skills
✅commitment
✅and a whole lot of other soft skills that are so important in the workplace!

It was so lovely to hear from Jamie, one of our past interns about his The Springboard Project journey. Seeing how successful he is and hearing about his progress since leaving us was just wonderful 🌟

We’ve been a little slow to post what we’ve been up to over at The Springboard Project. Last week, interns focused on their independent living skills - going to the shop, buying their chosen items, preparing a meal, enjoying it together and clearing away at the end…

The interns had a fab day in Liverpool, huge thanks to Dave and Avanti West Coast for the . We met at Crewe railway station, travelled to Liverpool Lime Street, got the Merseyrail, went on the Mersey Ferries, had the Royal Liver Building 360 Tour and had a walking tour back to the return train.

A great team building day, developing communication skills with one another and new people. Our interns' personalities are really shining through - they could be such incredible colleagues to you, very soon!

It’s all getting busy over at The Springboard Project - on Tuesday, Allie visited from the Department for Work and Pensions - DWP to give interns feedback on their CVs, which have now been shared with Safe Opportunities to pass onto employers…and Steve came to discuss The Duke of Edinburgh's Award and how we can overcome our fears and challenge ourselves to develop confidence and be work ready through the upcoming residential!

All set up and ready Cheshire College - South & West for The Cheshire & Warrington Pledge Careers Fair. Looking forward to seeing Springfield School, Crewe Sixth Form students and meeting other schools too!

Another great day with the interns - CV writing, computer skills, evaluating own areas for development and even cleaning The Hub at the end of the day. We just know these young people will be such valuable employees within a year…watch this space!
