🧯 Are accountancy firms spending too much time firefighting instead of moving forward?
In our latest blog, Vipul explores why embracing change is becoming essential for firms navigating growing compliance demands, rising client expectations, and increasing operational pressure.
Vipul highlights three key themes firms need to focus on:
- The growing risk of standing still in a rapidly changing environment.
- The need to ensure change is driven by growth and efficiency.
- The importance of adapting, experimenting, and challenging the status quo.
Let’s face it, the firms that embrace change today will be the ones leading the profession tomorrow.

In this month’s edition of XU Magazine, our MD, Vipul Sheth, shares the key findings from our newly released Accounting Talent Index 2026.
The report reveals that over the past 12 months, 25% of firms have invested in training and upskilling programmes that are already delivering a positive impact, highlighting just how critical talent development will be to the future of the profession.
As Vipul explains: “While the solutions are not exhaustive, or all yet identified, significant strides can be made by investing in the development of accounting talent, rethinking recruitment approaches, and promoting the essential role of accountants in supporting economic stability.”

We’re less than a week away from gbX London, and the conversations happening in the industry right now feel more relevant than ever.
Ahead of our must-attend event, we asked our MD Vipul Sheth what gbX means to him:
“gbX London has grown out of years of conversations with firm leaders about the reality of running an accounting practice today.
"The truth is, most firms are facing the same pressures, from growth that feels harder to achieve and talent that's harder to retain, to tech that's rapidly evolving and shifting client expectations.
"What we’ve tried to do with this event is create a space where those challenges can be talked about properly, where they can be discussed by the people actually experiencing them.
"For me, it's this honesty that makes the event valuable.”
If you’re joining us next week, we’re looking forward to continuing those conversations with you in London.

Tech is evolving faster than most firms can keep up with.
AI is no longer “new.” Cyber threats are no longer rare. And the pace of change isn’t slowing down.
So what does “ready” actually look like right now?
At gbX London 2026, we’re bringing together leading experts to share how firms are adapting to rapid change.
Ian Gregory, CTO at Advancetrack, will discuss:
• Where AI is delivering real impact in firms today
• Why cybersecurity is now a business-critical priority
• How firms are staying ahead of continuous tech change
This isn’t about future trends, it’s about what’s happening now.
If you want to stay ahead, you need to get involved.

Top athletes don’t rely on talent alone. They build plans, discipline, and habits that drive consistent performance.
CEOs may not be training for the Olympics, but the pressure to perform - and sustain a high-performing team - is just as real.
So what can business leaders learn from elite athletes?
At gbX London, Michael Ford, Managing Director & CEO at Castaway, will explore how to:
• build a high-performance environment
• play the long game
• train for resilience - not just short-term results
Success isn't about one-off wins; it's all about building a winning strategy that lasts.

"The biggest mistake I’m seeing SMEs make is trying to automate everything too quickly."
In March's edition of "Let's Talk" from Dynamic Business, our CTO, Ian Gregory, shared his thoughts on how AI trends will genuinely shape how small and medium businesses will operate over the coming year.
🗣️ He says: “Over the next 12 months, the AI trends that matter most for SMEs may not be the most hyped ones. They will likely be the practical applications that improve everyday business workflows.
"There are so many conversations, and myths or mistruths, about AI technologies out there right now it’s often difficult to make sense of what can help and what can be a resource-burning rabbit hole.
"The biggest mistake I’m seeing SMEs make is trying to automate everything too quickly – to go too far, too fast. If the underlying processes for bringing AI in are unclear or inconsistent, AI will simply multiply the confusion and make everything worse, rather than solve it. Successful businesses are building an understanding how work actually flows through the organisation and taking steps to standardise it.
"In our industry, accountancy outsourcing, what we are seeing deliver real value for our clients are tools that support collaboration, or documentation and knowledge sharing. These are areas where AI can help teams move faster while keeping human oversight and professional judgement in place.
"For SMEs, the winning model is unlikely to be AI alone. It will be a hybrid approach – combining automation, skilled people and external partners who can provide talent when it’s needed.”

March was an absolute whirlwind for the Advancetrack team, but what an incredible month!
It was filled with lots of events, and it was great to get involved in some really interesting conversations about the future of accounting 🚀
We were headline sponsors at the Accountancy Management Summit - the first of the Alternative Events, joined the remaining two Alternative Events conferences - Accountancy Tech Summit and Accountancy Audit Summit, and spent a fantastic day at The Finance, Accounting & Bookkeeping Show.
Our team was truly out in force in March - MD Vipul Sheth, Sales Director Louise Walpole, CTO Ian Gregory, and Sales Manager Paul Frith.
A few highlights that stood out:
🎤 Vipul opened the Accountancy Management Summit and later joined a panel about balancing tradition with transformation – basically, how to build firms the next generation actually wants to lead.
đź’ˇ Ian ran a session at the Tech Summit on using technology, automation, and smart resourcing to help firms grow in a way that lasts.
🤝 At the FAB Show, Vipul joined a panel focused on the human side of transformation – sharing practical tips on getting teams on board, building confidence, and making change stick.
It was inspiring to see so many ideas in action and meet people who are as passionate about the profession as we are!
Big thanks to everyone who made it such a memorable month 👏
