πŸ’™ Drowning Prevention Week 2026 πŸ’™

This week marks **Drowning Prevention Week**, led by the Royal Life Saving Society UK, raising awareness of water safety and helping to prevent accidental drowning.

Whether you're visiting the beach, a river, lake, canal, or swimming pool, it's important to stay safe around water. Drowning can happen quickly and silently, and many incidents are preventable with the right knowledge.

🌊 Remember:
βœ… Always supervise children closely around water.
βœ… Never swim alone.
βœ… Check local conditions before entering the water.
βœ… Avoid alcohol when participating in water activities.
βœ… If you see someone in difficulty, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard (at the coast) or Fire and Rescue Service (inland waters).

If you unexpectedly find yourself in deep water, remember to **Float to Live**:
🫁 Tilt your head back with your ears submerged.
πŸ‘ Relax and try to control your breathing.
🌊 Move your hands and legs gently to stay afloat.
πŸ“’ Once calm, call for help or swim to safety.

Together, we can help keep our families and communities safe around water.
