Doctor Rox
Doctor Rox are back with a new line up. With two of the original members, and two new members. Doctor Rox are a four piece hard rock band from Essex and Suffolk.
We cover a variety of bands from Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, Queen to name just a few. We have been together for a number of years and in those years have seen a number of lineup changes that has culminated into the present quartet. The members of Doctor Rox have gained a lot of experience over the years playing with different bands and genres. Doctor Rox continue to develop using past experiences and bringing those experiences to the band.
Due to unforseen circumstances and oversight on my part, Doctor Rox will have to cancel the event at The Grapes in Bury St Edmunds on the Saturday 27th May. Apologies to all for this. We will keep you posted on forthcoming events in due course. 🥲
An epic on a grand scale; one of the longest songs in the set "The Led Zeppelin Medley". Weighing in at a mere 7 minutes, 40 seconds. Shardlow Village Hall.
Our opening song "Are You Ready" originally recorded and performed by Thin Lizzy, which kicked off a great evening that was had by all. Shardlow Village Hall.

The photos were taken at Shardlow Village Hall, whilst performing our soundchecks prior to the main event in the evening. Then down the local pub for a pint and some grub.
Hi everyone. It's been a while and we do apologise. We played recently up in Derbyshire, a picturesque village of Shardlow. The gig went extremely well considering our previous gig was 3 years ago in Norwich at the Reindeer on the 17th October 2020. We did have a gig lined up at the Black Horse, Ipswich, then Covid hit and everything went belly up and got cancelled. So here you are "Don't Stop the Sandman" with audience participation. Hopefully it won't be another 3 years.................. We'll post some more videos from Shardlow soon. Thank you for your support. Enjoy 🥰
It's been a while since we have posted anything. We have been busy putting a set together, a couple of videos were posted here and on YouTube a few months back.
In March however disaster stuck whereupon I had an accident which resulted in fracturing my wrist. This was a real problem as it was my left. To make matters worse, complications had set in where my left hand and fingers were extremely swollen and stiff. It looked as if I had done more damage than first thought. Three weeks after the accident I started physiotherapy. I am now in the 11th week since the accident, there has been progress albeit very slow. The physiotherapy is helping as I'm attending twice a week, the sessions last an hour. I am also exercising the wrist joint and fingers on a regular basis and managing to grip things that would have been impossible a month ago. The swelling of the hand has gone down, but the fingers are still swollen. I have movement in the fingers, but still can't make a fist. The pads at the base of the fingers are still quite swollen. The tendons across the joints in the fingers are very tight making it difficult to make a fist.
Playing the guitar at the moment is a problem because I can't grip the neck because of the fingers being stiff and painful, although there is some progress there as I can play a few chords with some pain. This is looking promising and giving me an incentive to persevere, as a month ago I couldn't even lift the guitar with the left hand.
It's not just the physical side of the injury, it's also the mental side that you have to contend with. Having played guitar for the past 45 years then suddenly it comes to a sudden stop is a bit too much to grasp. The mind is complex and one starts to imagine the worst. I have had a lot of support and encouragement from my wife, family, band mates and friends which has helped through those dark periods. I am very grateful to all those who have given me the support and encouragement to continue.
Doctor Rox will be back on the road, hopefully in the not too distant future.
Mick
