Therapy, coaching and assessments are all in a days work! So I thoughts I’d show some examples of the types therapy I do with my kids from today.

Whether they are using alternative access or not we work together on developing speech and language. Today it was all in schools 🏫

It’s happened to a few of my clients iPads now and it’s easy to fix.

I would also recommend adding guided access. This helps the AAC Iser stay in the app until he/ she can navigate through the app confidently and they have symbolic understanding.

Did you know there was such a thing called ‘Peer-mediated AAC Modelling??’ I’ve just read all about it in the recent AAC Journal. Plus it’s evidence-based! So why are we not doing more of it??

Is it because the adults don’t feel confident to use the device?

Is it because we haven’t given the peers opportunities?

Is it because we are worried that the peers will take over??

Let’s provide structured times in main stream to explore these opportunities and find out 💻📱🖥️

I can’t get enough of this. It is absolutely essential we hear from those that actually use AAC to shape our thinking, help with decision making and future for them and us.

Today I returned to continue sharing the love of my job with Yr 10 and a perfect opportunity to dive into the world of high-tech AAC (Augmented and Alternative Communication).

it was great to show these students how tech breaks barriers and gives everyone a voice.

So rewarding to spend my afternoon with the Year 10s at ! 🗣️✨ My goal was to give them a window into the world of speech and language therapy and hopefully inspire. We need the next generation of and professionals more than ever!
