Evening all, well in true normal fashion the final videos have beaten the race report 😆
Well what can we say about last night, lots of cars, lots of fun, and some epic race results for some!
We also had a first time racer join us last night. Step forward Jasmine Judge.
Jasmine is the better half of Ryan Townsend. Ryan is a second generation driver, and son of the legend that is Pete Townsend, a passed BMCC regular 🏁
It was good to see you to Ryan, but probably best not to tell dad that Jasmine actually beat you first time out! 😉
But seriously is was great to see you both, and we hope you had a good time Jasmine.
It was good to see Jack Cooper and Ross Adams back again, and also Shaun Taylor.
Along with most of our regular faces it was a busy race hall. We had 17 1300 stock cars, 9 minis, and 9 hot rods racing. This would mean mixed heats for all classes which is a first for some time. 👍
We will start with the minis tonight. With 9 cars and split heats it actually ment the minis were quite well behaved!
With a busy race night come the finals we were getting pushed for time, and knowing the mini boys enjoy a bit of "action" the question was asked. "Would you like a all in 9 car mini craziness" or a more sedated 6/3 split?
I think we can guess what they said, "all in!" Was the answer, marshals take cover now lol 😆
The grid was a busy one, and we actually ran out of grid slots lol. On pole was Daren Wood, grid 2 was Keith Dowsett, grid 3 was Shaun Taylor, grid 4 was Jack Cooper, grid 5 was Paul Cooper, grid 6 was Ross Adams, grid 7 was Sam Maidment, grid 8 was Allan Goodland, and grid 9 was Phil Jacobs.
As the room braced its self, and the buzzer went, the madness started. A betting man would probably of put good money on not all the cars finishing, if they had they would of lost! In an amazing performance of skill, or maybe just blind luck! when the laughter stopped and the buzzer sounded again all 9 were still going 👌
All this ment that it was Shaun taking the win from keith in 2nd. 3rd went to Paul, 4th was Daren, 5th was Allan, 6th was Jack, with Sam, Ross, and Phil taking the other places.
1300's next, and a mega turn out it was. With less cars on track during the heats the pace was fast, but the bumpers were still flying, with Keith Smith, and Jordan Howe starting there now normal "game of chess" in round 1!
With 17 cars running and time ticking away it would be just the 2 finals for this class, but only 8 cars running in each.
The B final had Ryan Townsend on pole. Grid 2 was Jim Treagust, grid 3 was Gordon Brett, grid 4 was Phil Jacobs, grid 5 was Ross Adams, grid 6 was Paul Firth, grid 7 was Geoff Treagust, and grid 8 was Jasmine Judge.
When the race was done it was Gordon taking the win. Ross moved up to 2nd. Jim was 3rd, 4th was Phil, 5th was Paul, 6th was Geoff, 7th was Jasmine, and 8th, and unfortunately a dnf was Ryan. (But it still counts Jasmine 🏁) 😆
The A final would see Keith Smith on pole. Paul Cooper on grid 2, grid 3 was Jordan Howe, grid 4 was Daren Wood, grid 5 was Sam Maidment, grid 6 was Jack Cooper, grid 7 was Allan Goodland, grid 8 was Jonathan Freestone, and grid 9 was Keith Dowsett.
This was a action packed race with hard luck stories the length of the grid, but when it was all said and done, it was the MD raceway world champion Jordan "Mumbles " Howe taking the win. Well done mate 👏 (could he do the double and win the rods as well???) In 2nd was Jack, 3rd was Keith Dowsett, 4th was Daren, 5th was Jonathan, 6th was Sam, 7th was Allan, 8th was Paul with a dnf, and 9th and a dns was keith Smith.
Hot rods now and another pleasing entry of 9 cars. Last time it was the hot rods that stole the show, and there is a fair argument that says they did it again. As has been stated before, the magic "90 lapper" seems to be the key, and the aim for this class.
Mega congratulations must go to Jaime Couzens this week. Jamie has returned to racing after some years away, and has recently moved back into the hot rod class. Like Adam last meeting, Jamie has been chasing the "90 lapper" for some time. Finally last night it happened, Jamie was happy, but its fair to say Dad Jon was as equally pleased for him. Maybe to top it all Jon also achieved a 90 lapper in the qualling heats, he has done it before, but this was the first time this year, making the Couzens pit table a happy place to be.
In actual fact, just to make the A final last night all 6 cars were 90 laps or above!!! 💪
The B final would see Keith Dowsett on pole, grid 2 was Jim Treagust, and grid 3 was Jonathan Freestone.
Keith would take a buzzer to buzzer win in this one, but it took him some time to shake the attention of Jim in 2nd. Unfortunately Jonathan was a dnf in 3rd.
The A final would see keith Smith on pole. Grid 2 was Jordan Howe, grid 3 was Shaun Taylor, grid 4 was Jamie Couzens, grid 5 was Jack Cooper, and grid 6 was Jon Couzens.
At the buzzer Jordan would take the lead and hold his nerve all the way to the end to take a mega win. Very well done mate. In 2nd with another brilliant drive was Jamie rounding off a cracking night's racing for both drivers.
Mumbles taking the win in both 1300 and rods, and Jamie getting that 90 lapper, and 2nd in the final. This makes the pair of them our drivers of the night, well done guys 👏
3rd would be Jack, 4th was Shaun with Jon and keith filling the other places with a double dnf.
And that concludes this week's report, and the last one this intrepid fb race reporter will do. Its time to rest the thumbs on a Tuesday night and take a back seat in all things BMCC. Hopefully see you all track side soon. 🏁
As always thanks to all who came and raced, helped set up, and pack away, and make the monday night's at BMCC so great.
Thanks to Sam and Paul on race control.
It all happens again in 2 weeks and the BMCC team look forward to seeing you there, but if you carnt wait till then solent raceway is on this Saturday.
