I’ve walked past this church and church yard millions of times and always mean to photograph the gravestones. Finally made a start on it!

It saddens me that all the gravestones were moved and stacked against each other without a record of the gravestone inscriptions that are now buried behind others and inaccessible. I have a lot of ancestors buried here but have only ever found 2 graves that match the parish records

A snowy return to St Thomas’s church and another section photographed. Some of these surnames appear on my tree but not certain they are on my tree without a little investigation first! Please take a look for any that may relate to your tree!

Gravestones from St Thomas’s Churchyard. I have visited before in summer and this part on the left hand side of the church was quite overgrown. When I returned last week I was able to find a few family headstones that were not previously visible.

More gravestones from Staveley Cemetery

Wandered through Staveley Cemetary on the way home from parkrun, lots of beautiful headstones to be seen. Not all gravestones have been photographed just mostly surnames from my family tree and others that looked impressive. Please take a look through, do any of these belong to your family tree?!
