Crow pose or Bakasana - requires mental focus as much as physical conditioning
The ability to hold a pose in yoga requires the development of focus and breath work before the development of the pose, why?
Learning to breath within the advanced poses builds intense core support to tap into the uplifting force allowing the body to feel lighter and build awareness of how your body feels holding the pose
Mental focus within yoga builds the mind body connection, training the nervous system to be calm which builds trust in how the body moves
Advanced poses are not the aim of Yoga practice but the development of focus and breath work will enhance your ability to explore 🧘🏼♀️
I’ll be teaching Hot Yoga every Wednesday fibre_lab 9.30-10.30am - DM to learn about how I can help you develop your practice or DM fibre_lab to book on.

Hybrid Work out of the Week for 5th October 2026 from Team Rees Fitness
This week it's time to do some sprints. As well as improving your out and out speed, sprinting improves your overall cardio fitness.
The first and third sets are treadmill based, you will be doing 3 fast intervals slowing it down to a fast walk in between to recover. For the sprint intervals set the treadmill to a speed that gets you working hard without feeling you aren't going to be able to get to the end of the 400m. If you get the pace of the first one wrong, you can always adjust for the next one. For the fast walk set the treadmill to 5.5-6kph so you get a chance to recover without stopping completely.
In between the sets of sprints, you will be using a sandbag and a box to tire your legs out.
For the sandbag over box, place a heavyish sandbag over your shoulders and set the box to a height you can comfortably step on to. Then step on to and off the other side of the box, that is one rep. Make sure you alternate the step up and step off leg to even out the exercise. Complete 20 reps
For the sandbag over shoulder place the sandbag on the floor in front of you, swuat down to pick it up, stand up and launch it over your shoulder so it lands behind you. This is one rep. Complete 20 reps.
Repeat the sandbag over box/sandbag over shoulder another 2 times, so you have completed 60 reps in total.
That's it you are done, enjoy the slow walk back to the car!

DEADLY DOZEN | MACCLESFIELD
What a day!
At the start of the month, our TeamReesFitness athletes took on the .dozen in Macclesfield — and we couldn’t be prouder of every single one of them.
Every rep, every run, every workout and every tough training session has led to this. The commitment and hard work these guys have put in has been incredible, and seeing them step up on competition day and give everything they had was brilliant to watch.
Fancy taking on a Deadly Dozen yourself?
If you want to train with TeamReesFitness and prepare to compete in a future event, send us a DM and let’s get you started. 📩

Hybrid Work out of the Week for 28th September 2026 from Team Rees Fitness
Third and final workout based on the new HIIT Zone at The Cheshire.
This time it is four exercises on repeat. 2mins on 30 secs off.
Here are the four exercises
Ski Erg - don't forget this is a hinge movement. Try and balance power and speed so you don't blow out in the first 30 seconds
Devil Press - this is a weighted burpee so take a dumbbell in each hand perform a burpee with a shoulder press at the top.
Dumbbell Lunges - with those same two dumbbells in hand, step forward until one knee just touches the floor, repeat with alternating knees
Wallballs - finally get wallballs find a target which is nice and high squat down and launch the wall ball to hit the target keep on going two minutes
Keep on going through these four exercises until you've competed each one four times
It will be a tough 40 minutes but you will feel better for it afterwards.

A beautiful session yesterday morning Hotpod Yoga Chester 🧘🏼♀️
It’s important as a yoga teacher to keep developing my own practice, learning from other teachers and taking that time to be led.
Social media can be very ego driven, with the push that as a coach yourself you should know it all but growth comes from listening and learning from others. Coaches benefit from having a coach, teachers from a mentor etc
Keep growing and learning!

Never under estimate the killing power of hills and boy is West Wales hilly!
I wouldn't say I enjoyed this run but the weather was nice and so were the views. Time is slow because...hills.
Also the orange squiggle is my route ( - - - ) which I promise was circular even if Strava didn't think so. I think due to patchy GPS.
Turned my ankle which is still a bit sore.
Back on it tomorrow.
