BBC Folk Award winner Sam Carter performs Ballads and Songs: Sam Carter sings Nic Jones, a heartfelt celebration of one of folk’s most influential voices. Nic Jones’s groundbreaking guitar style and emotive singing inspired generations of musicians. Though his career was cut short by a car accident in 1982, his influence endures; Nic’s masterpiece album Penguin Eggs is treasured more than 40 years on.
Hailed by Jon Boden as “the finest English-style fingerpicking guitarist of his generation,” Sam brings Nic’s timeless songs back to the stage for one season only; a rare chance to hear this remarkable repertoire live.

It was great to have Visions of Albion back to St Mary's Creative Space last Friday. Up and coming duo Samantha and Dan are adept songwriters and performers, passionate about creating new music, whilst acknowledging their Laurel Canyon influences. Sam's voice is exceptional. With Dan's vocals and guitar work, it's a winning combination.
Lush harmonies from girl trio mondegreen opened the night for us, with original music, and both acts garnered plenty of compliments from the audience.
A feel-good evening all round!
Thanks to great sound via the good offices of Dragons Are Real: Music, Bev Fraser (Bev's Bar!), and all those who came along to keep the faith, by supporting new live music.
