Your website is currently losing a game you didn’t agree to play 🎲
You made it when things looked different, then added a page here and a plugin there, and now it does just enough to not fall over.
You answer the same question five times a day in your DMs because the site doesn’t.
Your offer is buried on a page nobody scrolls to.
And it’s “fine”, which is a word you only use about things that aren’t actually fine.
None of that is a design problem, at least not first. It’s a structure problem, and structure is what I obsess over before I choose a single colour or font.
If your website has been ‘fine’ since 2019 and you want it sorted before the year’s out, I’ve got a handful of spots left for 2026 builds 💌 enquire via my link in bio!

Allow me to reintroduce myself 👋
More accurately, here’s what any of this post actually means about how I’ll build your website:
The 12-year-old on a free Wix account is still in here somewhere. Just with nine years and 70+ real websites of practice now.
Training for Hyrox as a very average runner with zero aerobic base is basically how I approach websites too. No shortcuts, no skipping the boring bits.
I’m shy until I know you, then I don’t stop talking, and that’s the version you get pretty quickly with me because you work with ONLY me. No getting passed around multiple people like in an agency.
And if a cake is my love language, a website isn’t far behind. I care whether it’s good, and I’ll keep caring until you no longer want or need me to.
If you want a website partner who’ll care about your site as much as you do, keep you in the loop, and make it look bloody brilliant, I’m your gal 🪩🖥️✨

Most of these can be set up in less time than it took you to read this post 🫢🛍️✨
Do you know what's funny? NONE of these tips have anything to do with the design of your website!
Because, in eCommerce, people are constantly scanning for trust signals, a faster route to checkout and ways to find what they need without extra clicks.
That's literally it
So SAVE this for the next time you're wondering why your Shopify order notifications go quiet 🗳️

A prettier website wouldn’t have stopped the same questions being asked every hour ☎️
The useful part of this project was working out why customers still needed to call in the first place, then building the site around that.
For Farmer’s Daughter Produce, the answer was making their fruit availability overwhelmingly obvious through:
🍊A filterable live stock tracker
🗓️ A seasonal calendar showing what’ll be available month my month
⏱️A ‘last updated’ timestamp so visitors could trust the information was correct
🖥️ An easy to manage back end so the website actually stays updated
That’s exactly what I mean when I say websites should be doing far more than just look good.
Copy and design matter, obviously, but so does whatever keeps happening inside the business that the website could be absorbing.
The same question arriving five times a week.
The stock list someone has to update every Friday.
The point where a customer stalls because they don’t have enough to decide on.
Sometimes the fix is clearer copy, or a different structure. Sometimes it needs a feature built to handle it properly.
If you want to get your website working harder for your business, enquiries for THE FULL BUILD are open for Q3 / Q4 in the link in my bio 💌

silly post alert 🚨🤭
Ok, I’m sorry if this tricked you BUT there really is no lingo that I expect you to know before you reach out to me for your business website!
I get apologised to all the time on calls:
“Sorry, I’m not very techy”
“You’ll have to bear with me”
“I’ve tried to build this myself but I got completely lost”
You really don’t need to know HOW your website works when you work with me.
You just need to know what you sell, how you want people to see your business, and what you need to website to help you do.
And the rest is allll mine to translate, that’s what you pay me for!
I’d much rather we have fun on the project than you feeling like you’re learning a whole new language and then feel too scared to even touch your website out of fear of breaking it 🥲
So if you’ve been hesitating to reach out because you’ve never even touched the back end of your website before, then take this from me:
You don’t need to speak website lingo to have a website, you just need a designer who’ll translate everything for you so you can feel confident your site is doing exactly what is needs to do 🫶

“I want my website to tell a story” is probably one of my most common requests from clients 🙈
And after I dig into what they ACTUALLY mean, it typically comes down to helping website visitors feel immersed and like they’re reading through chapters of a book they can’t put down rather than a static professional looking PDF
This is where, as a web designer, I’m seeing this being taken a little out of proportion. Because while animation can definitely:
✨ help people stay on a site for longer
✨ make a website feel more considered
✨ encourage people to do the action you want them to next
The assumption seems to be that animation makes a website automatically better.
But no one is buying from you because your site had movements. They’re landing on your website with a question and they’re already wondering if it’s even worth the effort to find the answer.
A premium site is one that makes people feel looked after, but I’m seeing farrr more at the moment which are designed to impress and not actually serve the business underneath it.
I’ve stayed quiet on this for a while but honestly I can’t anymore 👀
Your website being pretty and your website being built properly are two very different things. And right now a lot of founders don’t know the difference until it’s too late.
DM me “audit” if you want me to take a look 🤍

I kept most of these going wayyyyy longer than I should have before I realised I was doing them simply because they felt like the nice thing to do.
Absorbing delays that weren’t my fault so clients didn’t feel bad about it.
Staying quiet instead of flagging something that wasn’t working.
Undercharging for people I liked because I definitely wanted to work with them again.
They all came from the same instinct: just keep things smooth and keep clients happy.
But friction-avoidance isn’t the same as client care.
I finally realised that clients don’t pay me to agree with them, they pay me to know what will actually work for their business.
Swipe through for the 5 I had to unlearn & save it if any feel familiar 🗂️

If your website is the one thing you keep pushing to the bottom of the to-do list, you’re not alone and it is SUCH a normal hesitation to feel.
Most of the time it’s because you don’t actually know where to start, what changes are worth making, or whether the tweaks you’ve already tried are doing anything at all.
This checklist gives you a clear, no-fluff starting point for getting your site back in shape this spring. And if you work through it and realise the issues run deeper than a tidy-up, that’s exactly what CTRL + ALT + Convert is for.
A full page-by-page audit, a prioritised action plan, and a recorded walkthrough of exactly what’s holding your site back and how to fix it — delivered to you within 7 days for £199.
