If people naturally come to you when they need help, support, or a bit of reassurance… there’s a good chance you already have the qualities that make a great carer.
Care isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about showing up with kindness, patience and a willingness to make someone’s day a little easier.
We’re currently looking for people who feel drawn to supporting others at home, with full training provided and no previous experience needed.
If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

The Bank Holiday heatwave is here 🔥
Hot weather can cause discomfort and a risk of dehydration for people living with dementia, and an amber heat alert is in place across parts of the country this weekend.
If you’re supporting someone with dementia, here are a few things that can help:
Make sure the person is dressed appropriately. Try light-coloured, loose-fitting clothes made from natural fibres.
Keep the house as cool as possible. Keep curtains or blinds closed during the day - especially in south-facing rooms. In the evening, open the windows to let the warm air out and the colder air in.
Avoid the midday sun. Stay out of the sun during the hottest part of the day (between 11am and 3pm). Seek out plenty of shade and reapply sunscreen regularly when out.
Find ways to cool off. Help them take a cool bath or shower. Place a washcloth and some iced water nearby to dab themselves with.
Stay hydrated. Leave beakers or jugs of water within easy reach. Provide high-water-content foods like ice lollies, jelly, ice cream, soup, and fruit such as melon.
Ask friends and neighbours to pop in and check the person is ok if you don’t live near them. Perhaps the visitor could stay, have a drink with the person, and make sure the person has everything they need.
📢 Please share so we can keep everyone living with dementia safe in the heat.

“What if care wasn’t about doing things for people… but helping them do things
for themselves again?”
This is called Reablement and it’s a growing area of home care that focuses on helping people regain independence after illness or hospital stays.
Instead of doing everything for someone, reablement workers support people to
rebuild confidence, routines and everyday skills.
It’s one of the most rewarding areas of care and something we’re excited to grow at Pineshield.
Swipe to learn more about what reablement really means.

This month we wanted to take some time to celebrate some of our back-office staff, without whose help we wouldn't be able to provide the quality service we strive for, each day.
Sumitha and Laura have achieved several simultaneous interrelated projects over the course of March and April, specifically:
✅ Implementation of a whole new payroll system
✅ Migration to new pension provider.
These might not look much on paper, but getting this done meant a lot of hard work, testing and dedication to make sure everything was working, on top of their day jobs.
Sumitha and Laura's considerable efforts have directly resulted in better services for employees. It also allows the team to provide the same services in significantly less time than what was done previously.
Thank you for all your hard work, both!

This week marks Mental Health Awareness Week, with this year’s theme focusing on the importance of taking small actions to support our wellbeing and those around us.
It also happens to be Sun Awareness Week, which we’ve seen lots of important conversations around recently across social media and the news.
Later this week, Sarah-Jayne will be sharing some helpful tips and awareness around sun safety and melanoma ☀️
