Global Fellowship Scheme 13/10/2023

Hi all. My university has launched a scheme to support scholars from outside the UK to build collaborative projects with folks like me (Alex Channon). If you are working on anything related to my interests (violence, consent, risk, safety, etc. in combat sports, or really anything sociological in martial arts studies that I might be keen on), and you fancy working with me on it, I'd love to hear from you. The scheme provides £3000-£4000 funding to cover a visit of one month minimum; more details on the website.

I'm preparing an undergrad lecture on orientalism in physical culture. If anyone has any [ahem!] 'good' orientalist (or mystical mumbo-jumbo) YouTube clips, that push magical versions of 'ancient Eastern' things like taiji, qigong, yoga, martial arts, or health and dietary practices, I would be delighted to see them. (I might record the lecture and share it here, so you can see what I do with the material) [NB: YouTube is best because I can show the clips within the presentation] Thank you!
