Meet little Elijah, and his parents Kyle and Chloe. ♥️ They're a normal young family from Ponty, with a happy three year old running around and making everyone feel tired just watching him. But a heartbreaking diagnosis has completely changed their lives and they could use some help.
Elijah has been diagnosed with an extremely rare genetic condition, which means his immune system cannot regulate itself properly. He's had to endure procedures no child should ever have to face - he's having chemo and needs a bone marrow transplant soon. Whether to go ahead with the transplant has been a tough decision for his parents, but Kyle explained the stakes: "You're basically told that at some point, an illness will get him. Then you're speaking to specialists and they explain there's a 10 to 15 per cent fatality rate on the transplant itself."
They just have to give their little boy a chance. It could be a complete cure.
On top of all the appointments, Kyle and Chloe are dealing with a loss of income. An infection could be devastating for Elijah, to the point they can't risk going to work at their hospitality and retail jobs and picking something up. So a fundraiser has been set up to at least help take the bills off their minds.
Elijah is so brave through all this. As soon as he sees the nurse coming, he's got his arm out at the ready and sits nicely for his checks and medication. Kyle says he's actually coping better than an adult would. 👏💪 Well done Elijah, wishing these three all the best.

‘I’m the only patient in Swansea and Cardiff with my rare disease, but one person could save me’.
A mother is calling on people to join the stem cell register after being left 'shocked' to discover that just one person could potentially save her life following a diagnosis of blood cancer so rare that she is the sole patient in Swansea and Cardiff. Mum-of-two Sian Chathyoka has been dependent on weekly blood and platelet transfusions to keep her alive while she awaits her stem cell transplant.
She said: "What I have realised throughout this process is that nobody knows about stem cell transplants. A lot of my friends didn't have a clue. That's why I want to raise awareness by sharing my story."
"Health is wealth and it is a luxury to be grateful for. Just signing up to the register, you can literally save a life. I feel really emotional because that's as powerful as it is."
Before becoming unwell last year, Sian led an incredibly active lifestyle. She regularly swam in the sea, ran a seaside campsite alongside her family, and looked after her two teenage children as a single parent.
The former social worker sensed something was not right when she found herself unable to continue with outdoor swimming. After her exhaustion became so severe that she struggled to rise from a chair, Sian visited her GP.
She revealed: "Since August, I've just been lying in bed because I've had no energy. I've had such a level of fatigue, I haven't been able to do anything, and it's been quite scary."
Sian was promptly referred for blood tests which showed alarming results, followed by numerous additional examinations that ultimately confirmed a myelofibrosis diagnosis. She remembered: "I couldn't stop crying. My condition is very rare. I am the only myelofibrosis patient they've got in Swansea and Cardiff, and I've been told my disease is aggressive as well.
"It's very difficult to be upbeat and positive. When you take away the layers it's absolutely petrifying. But you've got to forget about that and be positive."

This is absolutely amazing news for this type of cancer it’s crazy how the cancer can hide from your immune system but by the look of it not for much longer absolutely incredible 🫶🏼😍
A steroid cream might help fight skin cancer. Yes, really.
Our scientists tested a cream usually used for skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis to see whether the steroids in the cream could help fight melanoma, the most serious type of skin cancer.
The active ingredient in the medicine (called glucocorticoid steroids) is normally used to calm inflammation. But in this study, it did something unexpected. It helped the body’s immune cells find and destroy cancer.
Here’s what’s happening.
Some cancer cells use a kind of 'invisibility cloak' to hide from the immune system and stop the body’s cancer-fighting cells from doing their job. The steroid cream blocks that cloak. Suddenly, the cancer is exposed and the immune system can kick into action.
When researchers tested the cream on melanoma samples in the lab, tumours shrank quickly. Even ones that didn’t respond to other treatments started to break down.
It's still early-stage, but this cheap and widely available cream could one day help treat melanoma and save lives 🌟
