he recent closure of important art-spaces in Cardiff, and we are dedicated to bringing this community together through the exposition of music, poetry and visual art, encouraging collaboration between these diverse artforms. Our gorgeous upstairs space has played host to a wide array of events, including exhibitions, our weekly Hootenanny, comedy nights and gigs, as well as being available to hire for daytime meetings and workshops. During the daytime, Polarity operates as a proudly plant-based speciality coffee-shop, offering a wide array of fantastic coffees, teas, and cakes as well as a delicious food menu curated by our head chef Yan. We run on a sustainable, low-waste model and are passionate about creating dialogues around the environment, sustainability and the increasing importance of conscientious, plant-based living. The majority of our products are locally sourced and we believe in supporting our local community of independent businesses, stocking coffee from Hard Lines, bread from Alex Gooch and cakes from Naturally Kind. Our filter coffees are sourced from Yallah (Cornwall) and The Barn (Berlin) and we are eager to share our passion for beautiful coffees. Polarity is a safe-space for Cardiff’s thriving LGBTQ+ community, as well as historically misrepresented radical organisations and individuals; we want to create dialogues and discussions within our community to promote a more conscientious, sustainable and fair lifestyle for humans and animals. We host a progressive, donation-based book-shop, allowing access to education about radical literature, and celebrating a diverse array of work from historically underrepresented authors... not just another stale male bookshop! Our aim is to offer a social hub for the radical communities of Cardiff, changing the narrative surrounding revolutionary and subversive thought. At Polarity, we believe in the immense creative potential of our city and that we can bring Cardiff’s creative individuals together through the provision of performance and exhibition space, reinforcing the growing sense of community within the city. By working with a wide array of artists and art-forms, we encourage and create space for creative collaboration, with the intention of increasing the output and potential of the community as a whole.
