Learning Disability Wales

A study into public transport in Wales is looking for people to take part in their research.

An independent research agency based in Cardiff, Strategic Research and Insight, are carrying out the research on behalf of Welsh Government, as part of the Travel for All programme.

The study is looking for people across Wales for in-person, online and phone interviews. The sessions will last up to 60 minutes. Participants will receive a £40 One4All voucher.

Mae'r adroddiad hefyd yn esbonio pwysigrwydd rhoi pobl yn gyntaf. Mae'n awgrymu gwneud gwybodaeth yn haws i'w deall a gwella cymorth yn ystod y broses ymgeisio am fudd-daliadau. Nod y newidiadau hyn yw lleihau rhwystrau, helpu mwy o bobl i gael y cymorth ariannol sydd ganddynt hawl iddo, a chreu system fudd-daliadau decach, mwy hygyrch.

Fe wnaethom hefyd fersiwn Saesneg Hawdd ei Ddeall o'r adroddiad. Mae'r ddwy fersiwn yn hygyrch yn ddigidol ac wedi'u cynllunio i weithio gyda darllenwyr sgrin a thechnolegau cynorthwyol eraill.

We worked with the Welsh Government to make an Easy Read version of their report on improving the Welsh benefits system. https://lnkd.in/eB4JGnCX

The report explains the progress made so far to make it easier for people across Wales to access the benefits they are entitled to. It focuses on improving three benefits: Council Tax Reduction Scheme, Free School Meals, and the School Essentials Grant.

The report explores how different local councils currently deliver benefits. It also shows ways to make the application process simpler, clearer, and more consistent.

It recommends better information sharing, reducing repeated questions, using one online application form, and making services easier to access.
The report also explains the importance of putting people. It suggests making information easier to understand and improving support during the benefits application process. These changes aim to reduce barriers, help more people get the financial support they are entitled to, and create a fairer, more accessible benefits system.

We also made a Welsh Easy Read version of the report. Both versions are digitally accessible and designed to work with screen readers and other assistive technologies.

BILD - The British Institute of Learning Disabilities are holding their Restraint Reduction Network Conference 2026 in Newcastle (and online) from 3-4 November 2026.

'Beyond the hold: restraint reduction through trauma informed systems' will focus on closing the gap between high-level restraint reduction guidelines and the reality of what people experience when they are distressed.

The programme will move beyond considering the ‘how’ of restraint and instead explore why distress happens in the first place, spotlighting the importance of nervous system regulation – understanding how and why a person responds to distress – and cultural inclusion.

The conference will be of interest to professionals and practitioners working to reduce restrictive practices across health, social care and education. People with lived experience are warmly welcomed.
