Mga kababayans,
Filipino Sports for Wales - Community Hub the Filipino Community Hub Project – Sama‑Sama Together in the Bayanihan Spirit
The Filipino Community Hub project proudly celebrated another milestone as we gathered sama‑sama together in true Bayanihan spirit.
With the support of the Rt Hon Cardiff City Lord Mayor, Councillor Michael Michael and our energetic and beloved Ad honorem for consul for Wales Philippine Embassy London Hon David Bentley LLM JP , and the National Lottery Community Fund Wales, fund Officer Joe Redmond. The event became a meaningful reminder of what we can achieve when our community stands united.
Our Family Day was wonderfully well‑attended, bringing together Filipinos, friends, and supporters from diverse backgrounds. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, connection, and shared pride. Children enjoyed arts and crafts activities, showcasing their creativity with some of the best and most heartfelt work we’ve seen. Families mingled, new friendships formed, and everyone left with smiles and warm memories. Some trend to dance the tinikling ut national folk dance
This gathering was more than just an event—it was a celebration of our culture, our resilience, and our commitment to building a welcoming space for all Filipinos in Wales. The Hub project continues to grow because of the dedication, generosity, and unity of our community.
Maraming salamat po to everyone for your continued support.

PRESS RELEASE
Filipino Community Hub Cardiff Project Launched to Support, Connect and Empower Filipinos in Wales
Cardiff, Wales 31/05/26 — The Filipino community in South Wales has taken an inspiring step forward with the development of the Filipino Community Hub Cardiff Project, a community-led initiative designed to provide a welcoming space for Filipinos and their families to meet, socialise, play, learn, work and access support services.
The project was formally inspired and strengthened during the Consular Outreach Mission and Town Hall Meeting of the Philippine Embassy in London, held on 26 April 2025 in Cardiff. The event was led by His Excellency Ambassador Teodoro L. Locsin Jr., together with the consular team of the Philippine Embassy in London and introduced the Bagong Pilipinas programme to the Filipino community in South Wales.
Also present was Hon. David Bentley Miller, Ad Honorem Consul of the Philippine Embassy for Wales. The programme was very well attended by Filipinos, community leaders and partner organisations from Wales and beyond, reflecting the growing strength, unity and contribution of the Filipino community across the region.
Prior to the event, a Filipino nurse based in Cardiff had already developed a clear vision for a dedicated community hub that would respond to the needs of Filipinos living in Cardiff and wider Wales. Through research, data collection, analysis and community engagement, he identified the need for a safe, inclusive and service-oriented space where people could connect, receive guidance and build a stronger sense of belonging.
The Filipino Community Hub Cardiff Project has been developed around seven key community themes, designed to benefit Filipinos of all ages and backgrounds. These themes focus on community connection, wellbeing, learning, cultural identity, practical support, volunteering and partnership working.
The Hub aims to become a centre for Filipino community life in Cardiff, offering opportunities for social activities, cultural events, educational sessions, family support, signposting to services and collaboration with local organisations. It also seeks to support those who may be isolated, newly arrived, vulnerable or in need of guidance.
Speaking about the project, organisers highlighted the importance of unity and service:
“This Hub is about bringing our community together. It is a place where Filipinos can feel seen, supported and valued — where we can celebrate our culture, help one another and build a stronger future for our families here in Wales.”
The launch of the Filipino Community Hub Cardiff Project reflects the spirit of Bagong Pilipinas — a renewed commitment to community, service, partnership and national pride among Filipinos overseas.
Community leaders, volunteers, local partners and Filipino families are encouraged to support the development of the Hub and take part in future programmes and activities.
