Who is coachedbycavanagh?
I’m ethan, I’ve always loved sports and all things fitness (well most things). I always knew I wanted to go down the coaching/PT road so have been working on improving my knowledge for years. My goal is to help as many people as I can and give people the tools to make changes forever not just for 6 weeks

If you’re not including slow eccentrics in your training here’s why I think you should;
So the main benefit of doing slow eccentrics is you’re going to build stronger and with that bigger muscles
When slowing down the eccentric part of a movement you essentially make your muscles work harder causing more stress and damage to muscle fibres
As well as this you are creating longer time under tension, this is when you will create most micro tears, again meaning stronger and bigger muscles over time
Another benefit in my eyes is you can use less weight and still get similar benefits to using a heavier load but without the stress on your joints (if you’re like me and have tiny joints this is a massive bonus) .
So on your next session in the gym slow down the tempo of your eccentrics on one or 2 movements and I promise you’ll feel it the next day .

Get good a leg raises and you’ll achieve both, watch this video to see how you can progress your leg raises and build some great abs
I like to go for 10-15 reps for 3-5 sets, if you struggle start with the lying leg raises and each week try to make it more difficult and progress
