Tree Aid works with communities across Africa, harnessing the power of trees to restore ecosystems, grow sustainable livelihoods and support those most affected by poverty and the climate crisis
Drought doesn't just affect water.
It can affect food, incomes, livelihoods and the health of the land communities depend on.
Across Africa's drylands, communities are restoring land, protecting water and building resilience to the climate crisis.
This , we're celebrating the people leading that change 🌱

Small purchases. Big impact 🖌️🌳
We’re so happy to share that our partner Brewers Decorator Centres raised an incredible £10,064.50 for us during Earth Month in April!
With every litre of Albany Woodcare sold throughout the month, they donated 50p to our vital work across Africa.
A huge thanks to Brewers and their customers for their ongoing support – this will have a lasting impact supporting communities, restoring ecosystems, and create sustainable futures.

Planting trees? That’s only part of the story 🌳
Because restoring land and ecosystems isn't one-size-fits-all.
Healthy landscapes grow when communities are at the heart of restoration.
From ‘half-moon’ pits to agroforestry, communities across Africa are bringing life back to the land by using the knowledge and solutions that work best for their local environment 🌍
Things are heating up in the UK this weekend 🔥
When it’s hot, where do you go to cool down?
By providing shade, protecting soil and supporting healthy ecosystems, trees act as nature’s air conditioner - something becoming increasingly vital as temperatures rise across the world.
Across Africa, communities are restoring trees and land to build resilience to extreme heat and the climate crisis. 🌳

A new restoration journey has begun in Northern Ghana 🌱
Earlier this week, Tree Aid Ghana officially launched Tisa-Tchon meaning “reforestation” in a blend of the local Likpakpa and Dagbani languages.
Working across 10 communities in Yendi, the project will support local people to restore degraded land through tree planting, assisted natural regeneration, agroforestry, and climate-smart agriculture, while also strengthening sustainable livelihoods linked to shea, honey, moringa and other non-timber forest products.
Across Northern Ghana, forests and farmland are under increasing pressure from deforestation, land degradation, and impacts from the climate crisis. Many communities depend on these landscapes for food, income, and everyday life – making restoration and building resilience more important than ever.
Over the next three years, Tisa-Tchon aims to restore 1,300 hectares of degraded land while supporting 1,550 people to build more resilient livelihoods.
The project launch brought together communities, local leaders, partners, and supporters in a shared commitment to healthier landscapes and stronger livelihoods for the future 🌍
We’re excited to share this journey with you over the coming months.
Proof that nature and people can thrive together 💅🌱
Today, Sir David Attenborough turns 100 🌍
For decades, his voice has inspired people around the world to see the wonder, value and urgency of protecting the natural world.
As he reminds us: “Nature is our biggest ally and greatest inspiration.” At Tree Aid, we see the truth of this every day. Across Africa’s drylands, communities are growing trees, restoring land, and building stronger futures for their families, showing how nature can support people to thrive, even in the face of the climate crisis.
Sir David’s voice has helped the world understand that protecting nature isn’t optional. It’s essential: for our climate, our food systems, and our shared future 🌱
