BS3 Community Development was founded in 1990 to improve the lives of people living in BS3 and the surrounding area.

We run two community venues; the Southville Centre and the Chessel Centre. In 1991 a group of local residents approached Bristol City Council to discuss the future of a former school situated on Beauley Road, which was lying empty and redundant. They wanted to ensure the site was kept for community use that benefited local people. After lengthy negotiations the Council agreed that the residents, o

BS3 Community Development is looking for a compassionate, motivated and proactive Social Prescribing Link Worker to help people across our community improve their mental health and wellbeing.

Hours: Part-Time (2 days a week) – Ideally Mondays & Tuesdays

❤️ Join us during Loneliness Awareness Week, where our week of activities continues. They're designed to bring people together, make new connections and have fun.

On Tuesday, we have Chatty Table at BS3 Community Café, a relaxed, friendly space where anyone can come along for a chat, meet new people, or simply enjoy some company over a cup of tea or coffee.

🧶 10am-12pm
Join Leila for a relaxed crochet circle. Grab a cuppa and cake from the cafe, sit and chat while we crochet away. We have plenty of colourful wool, so bring a hook if you have one, or you can borrow one for the session. Suitable for beginners, all instructions provided
✏️ 1-3pm
Join Morgan for a friendly colouring session over a cuppa. This relaxed and welcoming activity offers the opportunity to unwind, enjoy some creative colouring, and to connect with others. Whether you come along to meet new people or simply enjoy some company.

🚶 We also have Stroll & Chat.
Join us for a gentle walk around South Bristol, friendly conversation and fresh air.
Free to attend and everyone is welcome. Meet outside the To***co Factory at 10.30am

Loneliness Awareness Week, from 15 to 21 June, is a global campaign hosted by leading loneliness charity Marmalade Trust.
Loneliness is something we all experience at different points in our lives. By taking part, we hope to create space for more open conversations and meaningful connections.

And we’re open!!

🌸 Step inside our Secret Garden for a day of family fun!
Join us on Sunday 14 June, 12–5pm as we open our child-friendly Garden at our Southville Centre as part of Bedminster Festival of Gardening / Secret Gardens, for one day only!

Bring the family along to explore our hidden garden space, including a beautiful wisteria walkway, herb garden and strawberry patch, plus our mud kitchen and mini allotment.
There’ll be lots for children to enjoy throughout the day too, including sunflower seed planting, a nature trail, garden toys, and crafts & colouring.

We’re also excited to be joined by some lovely stalls:
🌱 Cowan Wood Garden Nursery with a wide range of plants from vegetables to Dahlias and Rudbeckia
💐 Florette Flowers with fresh British summer bouquets, dried flowers, wreaths and flower crowns
🪴 South Bristol Gardening Club plant stall

☕ The BS3 Community Café will be open throughout the day, serving hot and cold drinks, cakes, snacks, ice creams and lollies.

Festival entry is £3 on the door (you only pay this once at the first Secret Garden venue you visit and it covers all participating gardens).
Please bring both cash and card if you can, as some of our stalls may be cash only.

We can’t wait to welcome you for a lovely afternoon of gardens, nature, creativity and community!

Brew & Boogie: A Community Tea Dance
Friday 12 June | 2.30–5pm

A friendly face, a warm drink and a bit of music can go a long way.
Our Community Tea Dance, part of Loneliness Awareness Week, is a relaxed afternoon designed to bring people together - whether you come with a friend or on your own, you’ll be warmly welcomed.

Enjoy live jazz and swing from The Barrelhouse Vipers, a cup of tea, a slice of cake, and the chance to chat, listen, or have a dance if you feel like it.

Tickets are £5 (including tea, cake and live music), thanks to a generous community donation from local artist Poppy Victoria May, which helps us keep the event accessible.
