No A-Levels? You can still become a Nurse.
If you've been wondering what qualifications do I need to be a Nurse, you're not alone. To become a Registered Nurse, you'll need to complete a nursing degree, and universities usually ask for A-Levels or an equivalent Level 3 qualification to get you through the door. Most will also want GCSEs in English and Maths.
If A-Levels aren't on your CV, that's where the Access to Higher Education Diploma (Nursing) comes in. It's designed for adults who want to get into university, and with learndirect you can study it online at a pace that works around your job and family life.
Our free brochure covers everything you need to know before you enrol, from the modules you'll study to how the course can help you take your next step towards a nursing degree.

She had to leave her studies. Years later, she had to leave her job, but Zaiba still found a way forward 💙
Zaiba had to discontinue her diploma in India when she got married and moved to the UK. After settling here, she returned to education, completed her GCSEs and became a teaching assistant in a primary school.
Supporting children, including SEND pupils, helped Zaiba discover her passion for teaching and education.
When a serious family illness meant she had to leave her job temporarily, Zaiba found another way to continue progressing. She enrolled on our online Access to Higher Education Diploma (Education Professions), allowing her to study from home alongside her responsibilities.
If you’re considering becoming a teaching assistant in the UK or looking into teaching assistant jobs and classroom assistant jobs, Zaiba’s journey shows where that first step could lead.
