✨ Taking time for yourself is not selfish—it’s essential. ✨

In our busy lives, we often push through stress without realising the impact it has on our nervous system. When we slow down, breathe deeply, rest, move our bodies, or simply take a quiet moment for ourselves, we send a powerful message of safety to the brain and body.

Self-care isn’t about doing more—it’s about creating moments of calm that allow the nervous system to regulate and recover. A regulated nervous system can improve sleep, mood, concentration, relationships, and overall wellbeing.

Today, give yourself permission to pause. Your body was never designed to stay in survival mode.

💚 Small acts of self-care create lasting change.

Template for an emergency/early EHCP review ….

If things don’t feel right for your child or teen right now, it’s okay to listen to that feeling!

You don’t have to wait for the annual EHCP review to ask for changes. If your child’s needs have shifted, if they’re struggling more, not attending, or not able to access learning in the way they used to, you can request a review sooner. This is often called an emergency or early review.

This can be especially important if your child is at risk of exclusion, as this often signals that their needs are not being met in their current placement.

EHCPs are meant to reflect real life, and real life doesn’t stay the same for a whole year.

It’s also important to know that this process isn’t instant. Requesting the review, having the meeting, and then the local authority deciding whether to amend the plan all takes time. Even when changes are agreed, it can take weeks before a final amended plan is issued.

That’s why waiting can make things harder. If you already know something isn’t working, don’t sit on it.

I’ve added an I.P.S.E.A link in the comments about emergency reviews, including a template letter (from them) that you can use to request one.

If the link doesn’t open (because Facebook loves to be difficult), just search “IPSEA template letter 5”

Alternatively, I have added a copy and paste of the template in the comments x

🌿Regulate Your Nervous System, Transform Your Wellbeing 🌿

When your nervous system is stuck in survival mode, life can feel overwhelming. Learning to regulate it can help you feel calmer, think more clearly, sleep better, and manage stress more effectively.

✨ Less anxiety
✨ Better sleep
✨ Improved emotional balance
✨ Stronger relationships
✨ Greater resilience and confidence

Simple practices such as deep breathing, mindfulness, movement, spending time in nature, and therapy can make a real difference.

💚 You don’t have to stay in survival mode. Learn to move from surviving to thriving.

Ever wondered why you keep ending up in the same stressful situations, relationships, or thought patterns — even when you know they’re not good for you? There’s actually a science behind this.

Your nervous system is wired for survival, not happiness. From a young age, it learns what “normal” feels like — and it works hard to recreate that feeling, even when that “normal” was stressful, chaotic, or painful. This is rooted in how our brains form neural pathways: the more a pattern repeats, the more deeply it gets wired in.

Add to that the role of cortisol and adrenaline — the stress hormones that kept our ancestors alive. For many of us, these chemicals became so familiar that calm actually feels unsafe. Peace can feel boring, suspicious, or even threatening. So we unconsciously self-sabotage, attract chaos, or push away the very things that are good for us.

This isn’t a character flaw. It’s nervous system conditioning. 💛

This is where counselling comes in.

Therapy helps you gently explore where these patterns were formed and why your system learned to need them. Through building self-awareness, processing past experiences, and developing new coping tools, you begin to create new neural pathways — ones that allow safety and calm to feel familiar.

Healing isn’t about forcing yourself to “just be positive.” It’s about teaching your nervous system, slowly and compassionately, that peace is something you’re allowed to have.

You don’t have to keep choosing what hurts simply because it’s what you know. 🌱
