SS Nomadic
SS Nomadic carried first and second class passengers out to Titanic from the French Port of Cherbour
Exactly one quarter size of Titanic, Nomadic was built using the same steel, the same rivets by the same people in Harland and Wolff Belfast. Nomadic carried many famous people to Titanic, but also continued as a tender to many other great ocean going liners. She also saw service as a troop carrier in World War One, and a mine sweeper in World War Two, and her varied career prior to returning home included being a floating restaurant and nightclub in Paris

SS Nomadic earned her place in history, transporting 172 First and Second Class passengers to RMS Titanic at Cherbourg.
Passengers and luggage were onboard Nomadic by 5pm, though Titanic had yet to arrive. It was another hour before her funnels were sighted, with the liner reaching Cherbourg at around 6.35pm.
At 8.10pm, Titanic departed for Queenstown (now Cobh), as Nomadicâs crew called out their farewells: âGoodbye, see you in fifteen days!â

Did you know?
In March 1999, the SS Nomadic ended her time as a floating restaurant on the River Seine in Paris, opposite the Eiffel Tower, after safety regulations required an inspection of her ageing hull.
Built alongside the RMS Titanic, the SS Nomadic carried passengers to the famous liner and later served as a troop carrier in both World Wars. Today, she is the last remaining White Star Line ship in the world, now fully restored and back home in Belfast, welcoming visitors on board. đ˘

On , we celebrate the story of Polar, the Titanic Bear. đťââď¸
'Polar' was a Steiff teddy bear belonging to Robert Douglas Spedden, a six-year-old passenger and survivor of RMS Titanic. Robert and Polar travelled aboard SS Nomadic and boarded Titanic at Cherbourg. Following their survival, Robertâs mother, Emily Spedden, retold the experience through Polarâs eyes, creating a childrenâs story that captured this remarkable journey.
Today, Polar and his little suitcase can be seen on board SS Nomadic! A small bear with a powerful connection to Titanicâs history.
