Writing something that isn’t a song feels freeing. Music can have so many restrictions that it’s hard for people to see the whole message. I still love music, but I wanted to try telling a story in a different way.

My Grandpa Was A Gay reflects on the hidden struggles and painful experiences faced by a grandfather who lived as a gay man in an era of criminalisation. It touches on themes of identity, courage, societal judgment, and the emotional cost of living in secrecy. The lyrics convey a deep respect and compassion for this personal history, while acknowledging the harsh realities imposed by past social and legal norms.
