The overarching philosophy for this project was to create a home that would be cherished as a legacy. From our first site visit with the homeowner, we understood that building this home meant much more than just constructing a beautiful property. It was to be a sanctuary for her family, of all ages, to relish for generations.
The James Doyle Design Associates team suggested a Splinterworks sculptural slide would be most befitting of this project. They were looking for an ‘important landscape moment’; a piece that enhanced their holistic design - which included the pool area and terrace layouts, as well as the entire exterior space of the property. Their beloved signature design style, that celebrates the intersection of nature and art, is perfectly exemplified in this project where the geometrical hardscaping, with soft naturalistic planting and sculptural elements, are perfectly resolved to encapsulate this meeting of art with nature. Significant Homes helped execute the installation of the extraordinary exterior.
With a remarkable Georgian-style residence by Vanderhorn Architects, the pool leisure space needed to be equally as impressive to complement the classical vernacular of the property. At the forefront of the design by JDDA was considering the sight-lines from the house - across the lawns and on to the pool area. The symmetrical design of the pool deck layout is pleasingly offset by the playful circular form of the sculptural slide.
Splinterworks’ Cyma slide was chosen as it also bridges the path to act as a moon-gate, and with headroom of 6’7’’ under the arch, it is tall enough to pass under and enjoy - a playful interaction for every generation, particularly those choosing to stay dry!
The outstanding team created a timeless, cohesive environment which will effortlessly host the years to come.

Nestled between boulders in this stunning San Diego pool, our custom copper lustre Vertex ensures the maximum fun out of our clients pool, while the water cooling system keeps the family safe in the hot sunshine. Every part of the slide is cooled externally through jets and internally through the hand rails and guard rails. Happy weekend friends! 🌞

Our slides are irrigated with both fresh water and recirculated pool water. Three independent pipes keep the main touch points cool and safe to use, in even the sunniest days, or hottest climates.
Our cooling system works in four ways:
First, our patented guardrails that run along the perimeter of the slide, irrigate the main chute through micro jets. These cool the entire sliding surface every few inches, ensuring it stays cool and slippery.
Secondly, the mega jets at the top of the slide create a fan of water, which soaks the chute and sprays your body, giving added ooomph to the ride!
Thirdly, this same water, runs through the handrails up the steps, to keep them cool to the touch when climbing the slide.
These systems all use recirculated water through the swimming pool’s filter system.
Finally, if on a particularly sunny day, the steps themselves are hot - micro jets, that are independently controlled, cool each step with fresh water. These ensure that any runoff doesn’t contaminate your vegetation. This system can be run for only a few seconds to be effective. The fresh water is drained away, so it doesn’t dilute the pool water chemistry.
Non-slip steps with strong grip tape ensure they are not slippery when wet.
We install slides in some of the hottest climates in the world, from Vegas, to the UAE, and they are all designed to cool down to usable temperature in around 15 seconds.
Quick enough for even the most enthusiastic among us!
