Busy week, what with the cold temperatures. I know what people will say, heat pumps don't work in the cold. Well they certainly do, my home is a prime example.

I was busy fixing (not because heat pumps had failed), but down to bad maintenance, badly installed, poor control strategy, or helping owners optimise their settings.

It's been a busy few weeks of looking at, not so great heat pump installations.

Service and system optimisation today, and boy it did need doing.

House all UFH, manifolds with blending valves, design flow temp 40⁰, heat pumps both at 55⁰ top, one was running like a boiler, the other was in weather compensated.

There is a list of things I didn't like about the whole system, but have put the client into a much cheaper running position than they were before.
