A brilliantly varied Friday stack today. The Marlow Murder Club by Robert Thorogood is charming cosy crime, She Said by Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey reads like a thriller despite being all too real, and On the Map by Simon Garfield is a fascinating bit of non-fiction for the curious. A Michael Connelly crime novel and a warm Fern Britton read round things off nicely.

There's something about June that makes The Secret Garden feel particularly relevant. This print is one of my favourites in the range and it looks brilliant in a garden room or on a bedroom wall at this time of year. Available in A3, A4 and A5 from £7.50 in the Gifts section at strangebooks.co.uk, designed and printed by me.

A brilliantly varied stack today. Filthy Rich Vampire by Geneva Lee is perfect for the romantasy readers, Murder and the Moggies of Magpie Row by Kate High is cosy crime at its most charming, and K.L. Slater brings the tension with Message Deleted. Add in some warm saga fiction from Rosie Goodwin and a festive read or two, and there really is something here for everyone.

The US Open starts Thursday and I couldn't resist. Gary Player's Golf Class: 162 Lessons For The Weekender started life as strip cartoons in the Sunday Express, and this copy came with actual original newspaper clippings of the strips tucked inside. Gary Player was one of golf's all-time greats, one of only a handful of players to have won all four majors. A genuinely fun find, very good condition, £15. strangebooks.co.uk

A lovely summery stack to start the week. White Teeth by Zadie Smith is a modern classic that more than lives up to its reputation, One Summer in Tuscany by Domenica de Rosa is perfect escapist reading for the warmer months, and Alexandra Potter brings the laughs with Confessions of a Forty-Something F # Up. A Madonna biography and a couple of feel-good summer reads round things off nicely.

A really strong Friday stack today. Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens is a modern classic that is well worth reading if you have not yet, The Road Trip by Beth O'Leary is ideal summer reading, and there is a Jack Reacher thriller from Lee Child and Andrew Child for anyone who likes their fiction fast-paced and action-packed. Freida McFadden also back in the shop with The Tenant.

Here’s something new. Every book at StrangeBooks is a one-off, so when it sells, it’s gone. Which is lovely if you got there first and quietly heartbreaking if you didn’t.
So from now on, you can ask me to keep watch for you. Tell me an author you love, or one you’ve been hunting for, and I’ll email you whenever a book of theirs lands on my shelves. No newsletter, no nonsense, just a quick note from me when something arrives.

A brilliant stack going up today. Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell is an absolute must if you have not read it yet, Labyrinth by Kate Mosse is sweeping historical fiction at its best, and there is something for everyone here from cosy romance to proper crime. Swallows and Amazons by Arthur Ransome is a lovely find for anyone with a young reader at home too.
