A little bit about me.

I've not posted anything for a few months. I have the sad news that the inspiration for the Fox Folder, Kevin, sadly passed away in August. It is a sad time. But as a result of the Fox Folder we were able to give him the send off he wanted. It wasn't what he "would have wanted". It was everything he DID want. He chose the music and the readings for his funeral and we wrote them down in his folder about a year ago. And that resulted in the best funeral he could have had, exactly as he wanted. It wasn't the most conventional, but no one could argue with his choices.

When I started my accountancy studies back in the last century 😫 I was advised to buy Hardman's Tax Rates & Tables. I have been buying them every year since then, and found them to be an invaluable source of information. Last year they stopped publishing them, and I was very sad. Particularly as the alternative was an all singing all dancing website with access to a vast library of tax facts and figures, case law. All of this came at a monthly cost of twice the annual price of the paper tax tables. I declined. Croner's contacted me a few months ago to say I could have access via their website to the Hardmans Tax Tables, free of charge. That sounded great. However, this proved to be painful. Firstly I had difficulty logging onto their website. When I eventually did get in I could not find the free information. My login did not come with access to the Tax Tables. So I used the chat bot to ask why. Chat bot said to call Croners. So I did, and was pleasantly surprised that a human being answered the phone almost immediately. However, the lady I spoke with could see there was some sort of glitch with my log in. It hadn't been set up correctly. So she is emailing someone somewhere to get it sorted out.
Gone are the days of having a printed book that you can easily reference. Now you have to log into some website somewhere (when it workds), remember a password, find the tiny corner of that website that the information you require is hidden, and then eventually you might find what you need.
Then post on social media about your experience 😅
This is why I am a Luddite, and I prefer paper. This is why I think there is a need for information to be in paper form as well as online. Not everyone has access to online. I know many people prefer online, and it is inevitably the future. But there is still a huge place for old fashioned paper, for those who want it.
Hence I invented the Fox Folder 🦊

A few weeks ago I posted about how I had finalised my will. One of my dear friends commented "Don't die". I don't plan on dying yet, but it will happen one day. And when that day comes I want to be organised - it's a control freak thing. Hence my message today is - get organised with a Fox Folder. Have a lovely weekend. ☀️

I've just had my will updated. So scanned a pdf copy to my dropbox and filed the original in my Fox Folder. Now just need to mention to the kids.

It's never too early to get your life in order. You never know what lies around the corner.

I know some people will call me a Luddite, but I like my paper. I don't like that everything has to be online. Yesterday at a hospital appointment there was much confusion about where we should be. Tried checking the appointment letter that had been texted and emailed, and in the depths of the hospital there was no telephone signal and their wifi is worse than useless. I wish I had printed it! Next time I most definitley will 😫 It just confirms my belief that electronic is not always the best.

Time to review finances. Money is getting tighter with what seems like every aspect of life getting more and more expensive. With the Fox Folder that job is made quite straight forward. By looking at the section with regular payments, you can see all the information in one convenient place. A very useful tool to help review all personal outgoings.

I'm reminding as many people as possible to take electricity and gas meter readings on Thursday evening. That way you have the correct cut off with the massive price increases starting on 1st April.
