A judging panel of industry experts commended our “wonderful use of biodegradable and renewable material" naming Solidwool as an "exciting material innovation" that is "beautifully unique and full of character.”

Solidwool completely turns the way wool is used on its head - telling the story of the origin of the material and creating a talking point for sustainable design. The Hembury Chair shows us that eco-conscious furniture doesn’t have to be complicated. We use the equivalent of one whole fleece in each chair, turning unwanted wool into considered sustainable design that is also beautiful.

We are thrilled to announce that back in September, Solidwool won the Innovation in Wool Awards 2023! We are very proud of our wool composite material, and enjoyed presenting our progress and developments as part of the judging process. Thank you for the recognition.

Solidwool now contains twice the amount of wool, and half the volume of bio-resin, meaning this incredible composite has an even higher natural content. Better for us and better for our planet.

With the Roger Oates team providing valuable support and drive for Solidwool, last year we were able to expand our shared workshop in Devon and develop the production of the Hembury Chair. This means we now have the facilities and time to experiment further with this beautiful material, meaning lots of exciting things to come for 2023…
