🏉 CLUB CAPTAIN ANNOUNCEMENT 🏉

Alcester RFC are delighted to announce that Ieuan Hopkin will be our Club Captain for the 2026/27 season.

A familiar face to everyone associated with the club, Ieuan enters his fifth season at Alcester having established himself as one of the most influential players in the 1st XV. Last season's Vice Captain, he now steps up to lead the club into what promises to be another exciting campaign.

Standing at 6'4" and weighing in at 130kg, the 26-year-old forward is a true talisman on the pitch. A ferocious ball carrier, relentless competitor and player capable of producing match-winning performances, Ieuan has collected numerous individual awards during his time in an Alcester shirt.

More importantly, he embodies everything we look for in a captain. He leads from the front, sets the standards on and off the field, and commands the respect of teammates, coaches and supporters alike.

Following a season that saw Alcester finish runners-up in the league and lift the Warwickshire Shield, Ieuan will now have the honour of leading the club as we continue our pursuit of promotion and further success.

Congratulations, Skipper! We know you'll wear the captain's honour with pride and continue to inspire those around you.

🏉 WELCOME TO ALCESTER RFC, SAM VERRALLS! 🏉

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Sam Verralls as the new Head Coach of Alcester Rugby Club ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Sam joins us with a wealth of coaching experience and an impressive track record of developing players, teams and rugby programmes at all levels of the game.

Most recently, Sam served as Men's Head Coach at Kidderminster Carolians RFC from 2020 to 2025, where he successfully led the rebuilding of the men's section following relegation and a shortage of playing numbers. Under his leadership, the club grew to regularly field three senior teams and successfully introduced their 2nd XV into the national league structure.

Prior to this, Sam spent five years as Men's Head Coach at Bredon Star RFC and has also held coaching roles with Worcester & Herefordshire RFU as Men's Head Coach and Backs Coach. His extensive coaching CV also includes positions as Lead and Assistant DPP Coach with Worcester Warriors and Wasps, alongside numerous coaching and development roles within clubs and community rugby programmes.

Sam joins Alcester at an exciting time for the club following our highest-ever league finish, Warwickshire Shield success, and continued growth across all sections of the club.

Hi all.

Unfortunately the organisers have had to cancel this.

This was not a rugby club event, but one provided by an outside company who were simply hiring the grounds to put it on.

It is hoped it can be rescheduled at a later date.

Every Monday, 7pm prompt start at Alcester RFC until 8pm.

Non contact, focusing on fun and teamwork, whilst still feeling like you have exercised come the end of it

New members will be made especially welcome.

⭐️Our next Alcester Comedy Night takes place on Friday 26th June at Alcester Rugby Club, and we're delighted to welcome an absolutely fantastic line-up headed by none other than Karen Bayley.

⭐️Karen is one of the UK's most experienced and entertaining comedians and has recently been touring the country supporting the brilliant Joe Lycett. With her razor-sharp wit, infectious laugh and devastating one-liners, she's guaranteed to have you in stitches.

⭐️Joining her is the wonderfully unpredictable Canadian comic Tony Law, whose surreal storytelling and unique style have earned him cult status on the comedy circuit and at the Edinburgh Fringe.

⭐️And, of course, keeping everything under control (or at least attempting to!) is our resident MC, Nik Hill.

🛠️ ALCESTER RFC MAINTENANCE DAY – WE NEED YOUR HELP! 🛠️

📅 Saturday 13th June

As we prepare for what promises to be another record-breaking season across our Mini, Junior and Senior sections, we're calling on all members, parents, players, supporters and friends of the club to come along and help us give the clubhouse and grounds a much-needed spruce up.

Whether you're handy with tools or simply willing to lend a hand, there's a job for everyone! No special skills are required – just a few hours of your time and plenty of enthusiasm.

Jobs will include:
✅ General tidying and cleaning
✅ Painting and maintenance
✅ Grounds and garden work
✅ Small repairs
✅ Plenty of odd jobs around the club

Many hands make light work, and every bit of help makes a huge difference to our volunteer-run club.
