We live in a culture of striving. Earn more, prove more, become more. The voice in your head says you're not enough yet.
Hear this: when Jesus said "It is finished," He meant it. There is nothing left for you to add to the cross. Nothing left for you to earn. Nothing left for you to prove. The sacrifice was offered. The debt was paid. The mission was accomplished. You can stop striving for what's already secured.

Forty days before her 40th birthday, she made a decision: to write letters of gratitude to everyone the Lord had used to shape her life. One of those letters came from Jerusalem.
—
"Dear Pastor Swindoll, though we have never met, I felt compelled to write to you as part of a personal milestone season I am marking: 40 days leading up to my 40th birthday. During these days, I have chosen to intentionally thank those whom the Lord has used to shape my life, whether near or far. It is with deep gratitude that I write to you today.
Over the past six years in particular, your teaching and writing have been a steady and meaningful voice in my walk with the Lord. Your Great Lives from God's Word series is something I quite literally devoured, and I can say without hesitation that the Lord used it profoundly in my life.
More recently, I have been slowly making my way through your New Testament commentaries, not merely reading, but truly basking in them, returning to them again and again as a place of depth, clarity, and quiet formation. Time and time again, I have found that what you share is not merely insightful but deeply lived, and it is precisely that authenticity that has allowed your words to reach places in my heart that few others have.
Thank you for your obedience to the call placed on your life. Thank you for stewarding your experiences with humility and clarity and for continuing to pour into others with such generosity. May the Lord bless you, sustain you, and continue to use your voice for His glory.
— J.K., Jerusalem"

While Pilate washed his hands and the soldiers cast lots, a deeper transaction was taking place. Every ounce of righteous wrath that sin deserved — poured out on the only One who didn't deserve any of it. The result? Mercy for us. Justice for sin. Both, fully satisfied at the cross.
What does it mean to you that justice and mercy met at the cross?

The Father turned His face away from His Son in that moment, so He would never have to turn His face away from you. Whatever you're walking through right now — He is with you. The cross guarantees it. The aching loneliness you may feel is real, but the abandonment isn't. He is closer than your breath.

There's a man in the gospel story most of us forget about: Barabbas. A criminal, set free, while an innocent man took his cross.
That moment isn't just history. It's a picture of every one of us. The cross had our name on it. The verdict had our name on it. The sentence had our name on it. And then Jesus stepped forward and said, "I'll take that one." We are all Barabbas — walking free because Someone else stayed.
Sit with that for a moment.
He didn't die because of us. He died for us. Instead of us.
The penalty that was rightfully ours. He absorbed it.
The wrath we deserved. He drank it down.
The death that was coming for us. He took it.
This isn't a footnote of the faith. This is the foundation.
When did the gospel stop being a story and start being personal for you? 💭

The strongest person who ever lived chose silence when He could have demanded vindication. Chose surrender when He could have demanded justice. That kind of restraint is supernatural — and it's the same restraint He offers to grow in you when someone wrongs you, slanders you, or hurts those you love. 🕊️

We talk a lot about destinations these days. Bucket lists. Travel goals. "Soft life" eras. There's a trip more important than any flight you'll book or trail you'll hike. It's the one that takes place in your own heart — the slow, deliberate return to the place where Jesus paid for you. When was the last time you went there? Not just thought about it. Not just sang about it. Actually went there.

The word grace is a short, simple word. But understanding the biblical depth and meaning of grace can take a lifetime of study and application. It’s almost a shame that a word describing suppleness of movement or a short, quick prayer before a meal is the same word we use to describe God’s unfathomable love for sinners. Nevertheless, it is grace that moves Him to offer us the free gift of salvation and forgiveness.
Grace is what compelled the apostle Paul to write of a mystery never understood before (1 Corinthians 2:7–13). Grace is also what allows us to relax into another’s accepting embrace as he or she gives us the freedom to discover our unique journey laid out by God. So relax as we journey together down the path toward freedom and the wonderment of the surpassing riches of God’s grace!
