Hello everyone,
Prayer Letter 14th June 2026.
The next meeting of the prayer group will be on Wednesday, 17th June, 2026 at the back of the sanctuary at 9.45 am. Please come along before the midweek service. All new members of our group will be especially welcome.
Give thanks for our service this morning. Numbers were down but the singing was great! Keith spoke about Luke‘s versions of the Sermon on the Mount, encouraging us all to live a life of justice, kindness and mercy, a life of “levelling up” in which greed, racism and inequality have no part. Give thanks for our minister, for all our members and office bearers and also for the care provided for the sick, the sad and the elderly.
Please remember in your prayers all those who have been bereaved, including a mother grieving for her son, for those coping with cancer treatment and for others who are facing long waits for hospital treatment. Please pray for a guide dog to be permitted to remain with his present owner.
Please pray for successful international negotiations so that countries may be able to look forward with hope to a period of peace and stability. Pray for a just outcome to an election this coming week and for an end to racist demonstrations. Remember all those travelling to support football teams!
The healthcare chaplain at ARI requests our prayers this week for the Surgical Zone, for the children, their relatives
and the staff at the Children’s Hospital and for all Community Hospitals.
Thank you being part of our praying group and if you know of anyone who would appreciate our prayers or to receive our prayer letter, please let me know. I will not mention any names, unless asked to.
Best wishes to you all,

Give thanks for the love and friendship we experience in our Church, for our welcome to the Lord’s table and for Jesus’ call for us to follow him and his teaching, to fulfil the role that he has for each one of us.
Give thanks for all those who use their skills and talents for the good of the Church community, for those who serve on the tech team, on the tea rota, in the arrangement and distribution of the flowers and in so many other ways.
Let us continue our prayers for the sad and the bereaved, for those continuing to receive cancer treatment, for those caring for loved ones and those waiting to go onto hospital. Pray for the Lord to be close to these people at all times.
Please pray for our fellow human beings who live with the reality and fear of war. Pray for those who try to bring peace to our world, in Ukraine, in the Middle East, that their motives will be genuine and that the suffering in so many parts of our world will be alleviated. Pray also for those suffering from the latest outbreak of Ebola and for successful treatment for those affected. Please remember also Suresh and Roja and their work in the poverty of the Indian villages.
The healthcare chaplain at ARI requests our prayers this week for the short stay, stroke, haematology
and chemotherapy departments, for Roxburgh House and for the Spiritual Care Staff Team.

Susan Sutherland and for the caring fellowship in our tea and coffee time after the service. Give thanks for our Prayer Tree and those who find comfort in expressing their feelings through it, for peace and comfort, for relatives and for a baby. These have been recent prayers received.
Let us remember all those in our Church family who have suffered bereavement recently, those who have been diagnosed with serious illness and those who have had to go into Care Homes. Continue to remember Alison and Craigie in their concern for Craigie’s health problems. Please pray for two ladies facing imminent intensive treatment for cancer. Let us pray for the teachers and children in Young Church, that our teaching will be meaningful to these young ones and that it will remain with them and be relevant to them as they go through their lives.
Let us extend our prayers beyond our immediate surroundings, remembering those whose everyday lives are beset by suffering and anxiety due to poverty, conflict and war. Please remember negotiations going on to end wars and pray for just settlements and for wisdom and restraint for those who are most closely involved in talks. Pray that the current Ebola outbreaks will be contained and for new treatments to be successfully developed.

It's Trinity Sunday tomorrow.
Keith says" I came across this image of the Trinity on Substack. The artist describes the three hands briefly. I take them as: the pierced hand of Christ on the left, held in the sign of Benediction - Blessings extended. The hand of The Father at the top is both extending outwardly (giving) but reaching too (welcoming). The Spirit hand reaches out of that holy circle - inviting and gifting from the centre of God to creation and to living things"

We are enjoying seeing the updates on the sunflowers that we planted in spring! As we see them reaching for the sun, we are reminded that our faith encourages us to keep growing, trusting that God's love will guide us, sustain us and help us flourish 🌻🌻🌻

Let us pray for the Holy Spirit to fill us all with God‘s love and to motivate us in all our words and actions. Give thanks for the work of the General Assembly as it helps us to focus on the future work of the Church as well as meditating on its past role in our society.
Please remember all those who have been recently bereaved. Jenny‘s funeral will take place tomorrow and a thanksgiving service for her life on Friday, both in Edinburgh. Please pray for all those receiving treatment for cancer, for all those in pain, waiting for diagnosis or admission to hospital and for those concerned about family or friends.
Pray for the containment of the recent Ebola Outbreak and for the successful outcome of attempts to treat the disease. Remember families who have lost loved ones in the mining disaster in China.
