To the question, “Can we privatize or rent the Rupture Stores in Marseille, Venice, Tangier, and Athens (opening in 2026)?” the answer is “YES.”

At Rupture, culture is the new luxury. Our books, records, precious objects, and works of art deserve to be displayed in settings worthy of the Rue de la Paix, and that’s why we gave carte blanche to the artist Pierre Gonalons to design our collection of cultural hubs.

We are not booksellers, but rather book galleries; we are not exhibition spaces, but artist residencies, and we can proudly say that our locations are among the most exclusive in the world.

Our bookstore-gallery in Le Corbusier’s Cité Radieuse in Marseille has been listed in the Gestalten ranking as one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world.

In Italy, we moved to santa croce in Venice

In Tangier, stop by the legendary Librairie des Colonnes, a temple of world literature, a haven for the Beat Generation, and once saved by Pierre Bergé and Yves Saint Laurent.

Finally, in our pop-up bookstores, I wanted to bring together, in a kind of cabinet of curiosities, objects, books, records, and souvenirs from our Mediterranean travels.

WHAT IS THE VENICE CLIMATE WEEK?
This week, Rupture offers a selection of books and research journals that explore our relationship with nature. Rupture supports the Venice Climate Week initiative.
Venice Climate Week is more than an event. It’s a collective call to action, a living ecosystem of dialogue and action and a gathering of scientists, institutions, citizens, innovators, activists, and artists united by one shared mission: to imagine and build a future that is not only sustainable, but regenerative, equitable, and profoundly human.

Every generation inherits a defining challenge.
Ours is to reconnect with the planet that sustains us to rebuild our relationship with nature, with water, and with one another.

Venice Climate Week was born from this urgency: a week where science meets culture, innovation meets politics, and imagination becomes a tool for transformation.

Where? In Venice, a city that has always lived in harmony and tension with water.

In Venice we find the perfect metaphor for our age: a time that asks us to adapt, rethink, and rebuild.
From this living tension, Venice Climate Week draws its purpose, transforming fragility into collective strength and vulnerability into a driver of innovation.
Throughout the week, ideas become strategies, and words turn into shared commitments.

Here is where connections are made, where stories and data converge, and where the world comes together to shape a regenerative future: one that restores ecosystems, empowers communities, and protects the fragile beauty of our planet.

This is not just about saving the future.
It’s about choosing it. Together, here and now.

Today, we are proud to present the first book published by Rupture Venezia Publishing. Our collection is conceived, written, printed, and distributed in Venice. Indeed, each bookstore in the Rupture group has a mission to speak out and express itself on a subject close to its heart, sharing a vision, a perspective, and ideas not only through its local bookstore but also throughout the Rupture network. « Lathe Biosas » is a philosophical collection conceived by Francesca Toich; it is the cornerstone and the starting point of our Italian publications. Rupture Arts & Books is a mission-driven company. Our ambition is to put books back into people’s hands, but also to publish and share our ideas throughout the Mediterranean. We are happy and proud to present Lathe Biosas to you.

« On the Hidden Life. Lathe Biosas. »

Living hidden is an ancient philosophical choice that remains strikingly relevant today. It is the conscious pursuit of a life removed from pain and fear—fear of other human beings, of the gods, and of death.

Several thinkers have practiced lathe biosas through different methods. The Greek philosopher Epicurus proposed cultivating one’s inner garden, far from the worries of the world. Lucretius escaped a Roman culture marked by the fear of the gods through an intimate science made of matter and poetry. Seneca and Marcus Aurelius sought the hidden life within themselves, building a citadel of inner peace while still remaining in the world.

Through quotations, reflections, and resonances, On the Hidden Life is a meditation on the freedom of not being seen, in an age like ours that often abhors silence.

A breviary for restless minds seeking a subversive and pure gesture: quietude.

Over the last century, China has experienced a period of growth more rapid and utterly transforming than any other nation has experienced in modern history. How can we begin to understand the country that has emerged from such a dramatic era of change? Perhaps the answer can be found in China’s art. Certainly, that is what renowned art collectors Adrian Cheng and John Dodelande argue in their forthcoming volume, Chinese Art: The Impossible Collection. After all, China’s history as a land of enormous influence stretches back to its dynastic past, and the nation’s art has always been in conversation with its customs.
The most highly anticipated volume in Assouline’s exclusive Ultimate series, Chinese Art: The Impossible Collection spotlights 100 works of contemporary art that reveal the social, political, and cultural evolution of a nation on the rise. Thoughtfully curated by Cheng and Dodelande, the 100 works are presented in chronological order, beginning with traditional paintings from the turn of the twentieth century and culminating with some of the most cutting-edge works by China’s “new generation” of artists, whose creations explore and often critique the politics that have defined China’s rapid growth into a new world power. The particular themes and conversations that these 100 works raise are glossed in essays and commentary from three of the world’s foremost experts on Chinese Art—Philip Tinari of the UCAA in Beijing, Alexandra Munroe of the Guggenheim in New York, and Karen Smith of OCAT Contemporary Art Terminal in Xi’an.
While readers will come away from Chinese Art with a nuanced understanding of Chinese culture, the volume is also a work of art in its own right—a must-have collectible for any devotee of Chinese art and culture. Assouline’s Ultimate Collection is an homage to the art of luxury bookmaking—the oversized volume is hand-bound using traditional techniques, with several of the plates hand-tipped on art-quality paper and housed in a luxury silk clamshell.
Complimentary white gloves and a signature canvas tote bag are included with each purchase from Assouline’s Ultimate Collection.
