On the International Day of Action for Women’s Health, Acted highlights a critical reality: access to healthcare remains deeply unequal for women in crisis settings.
In many of the contexts where we operate, service disruptions, malnutrition, and limited hygiene conditions continue to weaken women’s health and limit continuity of care.
Acted works to remove barriers to services (Zero Exclusion), strengthen the resilience of health infrastructures and systems in the face of climate change (Zero Carbon), and address the economic challenges that prevent women from seeking care (Zero Poverty), through integrated, context-driven responses.
Concrete examples of this approach on the ground:
🧠 Mental health and nutrition – in Gaza: Psychosocial care, safe spaces, and malnutrition screening for women and children to reduce health risks linked to prolonged stress and pregnancy.
⚕️ Care for survivors of violence – in the DRC: Medical treatment, psychosocial support, and economic assistance to address immediate needs and support recovery.
🧼 Menstrual health and livelihoods – in Myanmar: Local production and distribution of reusable menstrual products, improving health and dignity while generating income.
🏥 Healthcare access and referrals – in Chad: Medical consultations and community-based referral mechanisms to strengthen care pathways.

🌱 Restoring ecosystems, strengthening communities
On the International Day for Biological Diversity, let's cast light on initiatives that protect ecosystems while supporting resilient livelihoods in rural Afghanistan.
In a context marked by climate vulnerability, land degradation, and limited access to basic services, rural communities in Afghanistan face increasing pressure on natural resources and livelihoods.
🔧 Across 4 provinces, Acted and IMPACT worked with communities to combine local governance , inclusive development and sustainable natural resource management.
📊As a result:
- 292,142 people reached through 24 emergency response projects: flood protection works, rehabilitation of water systems, and construction of culverts and protection walls
- 336 women-led farming groups created
- 22,108 youth engaged in development activities: vocational training, life skills, and employability support
- In 2025 alone: 25,200 trees and 240,000 ferula saplings planted
💬 By restoring ecosystems and supporting community-led solutions, the programme helps protect natural resources while creating sustainable opportunities for rural communities to adapt, recover, and thrive in the face of environmental challenges.
🤝This project was implemented with the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Rapid response in Yemen: supporting families affected by fire
On January 2026, a devastating fire swept through a Somali refugee camp in Qatabah district, destroying shelters and further displacing already vulnerable families.
🔧 A few days after the fire:
Through prioritising rapid and flexible action in the face of sudden shocks, Acted quickly mobilised to assess urgent needs and deliver life-saving support.
🏠 Emergency shelters to restore safe living conditions
📦 Essential non-food item kits, including blankets, mattresses, kitchen sets, buckets, and mats
💬 Restoring dignity and stability
“The situation was extremely difficult, as my tent was the only refuge for my family and me. (…) Acted provided us with tents, bedding, blankets, hygiene kits, and cash assistance to buy food. Now we have adequate shelter.”
— Layla, displaced resident
At scale, this mechanism has supported 4,660 individuals affected by fires, floods, and displacement — helping communities regain safety, dignity, and stability.
🤝 This response is implemented under the Yemen Displacement Response Consortium, with the support of the EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid.

📣 International Day of Light : Access to lighting as a key driver of protection in crisis contexts
In Chad, at the Dougui settlement, home to more than 20,000 sudanese refugees, the lack of public lighting represents a major risk, particularly for women and girls. Moving after dark to reach water points, health centers, or markets can become dangerous.
💡 In response, Acted has installed solar streetlights in strategic areas identified together with communities: main pathways, the health center, and the market.
👉 Beyond improving safety, access to light transforms daily life:
- it facilitates access to essential services, even at night
- it enables economic activities to continue after dark
- it gives children more time to study
- it strengthens the overall sense of security

🌱Supporting agricultural recovery and resilience in Syria
Syria continues to face a protracted humanitarian crisis, with millions still affected by years of conflict, displacement, and infrastructure degradation. In Deir ez-Zor, the progressive return of populations, amid evolving governance dynamics, is placing growing pressure on already fragile services and livelihoods.
⚒ Acted is implementing a multi-sectoral early recovery response in Basira sub-district to restore agricultural production and strengthen food availability:
💡 conducting technical assessments for agricultural businesses for their registration in the programme
💧 providing tailored grants to support agricultural activities
📊 delivering business management support to strengthen economic viability
🌱 offering technical training on climate-smart agriculture practices to improve productivity and sustainability
🎯 To date, 410 businesses have been registered during this phase of implementation, contributing to the revitalization of local agricultural production in the area.
🤝 A project implemented with the support of the Centre de Crise et de Soutien (CDCS) France Diplomatie , contributing to durable recovery in Deir ez-Zor.

🌏 3ZERO House Global Meetup | Climate Anxiety: From Awareness to Action
As climate anxiety increasingly affects younger generations worldwide, how can we transform fear and helplessness into collective action.
For this new edition of the online 3ZERO House Global Meetup, 3ZERO House Philippines (powered by Acted) is partnering with the Global Shapers, an initiative of the World Economic Forum bringing together young leaders committed to creating positive change in their local communities.
Through the engagement of the Global Shapers Community - Manila Hub and Global Shapers Paris,, Global Shapers brings a youth-led and community-based perspective to discussions on climate action, mental health, and resilience. Their contribution helps strengthen connections between local initiatives and global conversations around climate-related challenges affecting younger generations today.
This event aims to create an international space for exchange on climate anxiety as a psychosocial issue, while highlighting practical, community-driven approaches to resilience and climate action.
