Fifteen days ago, we were entering the very secret construction of the GWK statue in Bali, making us the first external shooting team allowed on this location. If the story the of the statue of Liberty’s construction differs in any points, the designers of GWK’s wish to underline that their's is higher and way more complex. Seeing the magnitude of that book, we're willing to believe them. Located on one of the hills overlooking the touristy beaches of Bali and visible from the airport, nothing can stop this delusion of grandeur own by this already historic building.

Deprived of any internet connection these last days we're back with a few pictures of the shooting, which took place in Bandung's Nuart museum - a great place designed by Nyoman Nuarta and dedicated to his art. It is in this green surrealist fortress that Garuda Wisnu Kencana’s statue is being built since twenty years before being sent to Bali, 1700km away.

We continue our encounters with Arie Bastaman’s interview who received us in his gigantic restaurant-museum-dance hall. Arie is one of Nyoman Nuarta’s closest friends and has been working with him since the early days of their statue project in Bali, when they presented it for the first time to President Suharto thirty years ago.
It was for us the opportunity to take a ride on his yatch in the harbor where illegal villages are built in great poverty. We also went in a primary school on Independence Day to check out what the youngsters are been thought here.
In a few days the long-awaited meeting with Nyoman Nuarta in his Bandung’s workshop !
