IMMENSE FIERTÉ pour la French-American Foundation – France : , Young Leader 2020, s’est envolée aujourd’hui pour une mission de neuf mois à bord de l’ISS dans le cadre de – εpsilon avec ses collègues astronautes américains et russe.
Pilote d’essai sur hélicoptère, officier de l’armée de l’Air et de l’Espace, sélectionnée astronaute par l’ en 2022, Sophie incarne une génération d’excellence scientifique et opérationnelle, portée par l’engagement et le dépassement de soi.
Avec ce départ, elle devient la deuxième Française à aller dans l’espace après Claudie Haigneré 🇫🇷 et s’inscrit dans la lignée de , lui aussi Young Leader (2017), qui a marqué l’histoire spatiale française ces 10 dernières années et se prépare pour la Lune 🤞🏽
La French-American Foundation était présente à Cap Canaveral pour accompagner ce moment historique, aux côtés de plusieurs Young Leaders venus soutenir Sophie dans cette étape exceptionnelle 🤩👏Lors du traditionnel « wave across », cérémonie d’au revoir aux proches (en plein air, quarantaine oblige !), Sophie a tenu à adresser un message personnel aux membres de la FAFF et à ses camarades Young Leaders !
Cette mission est une formidable source d’inspiration pour notre communauté et au-delà : elle rappelle que l’audace, la rigueur, l’ambition et la coopération internationale ouvrent les frontières, y compris celles de l’espace !

[CYCLE IA] 🤖 IA & Politiques publiques : quelles stratégies pour favoriser son adoption ? 🇫🇷🇺🇸

À l’occasion du Sommet pour l’Action sur l’Intelligence Artificielle, la French-American Foundation - France a organisé un déjeuner-débat exclusif en l’honneur de David Zapolsky, Senior Vice President, Global Public Policy & General Counsel chez Amazon.

Avec clarté, notre invité a partagé sa vision stratégique des enjeux liés à l’adoption de l’IA, tout en soulignant l’importance d’un cadre politique adapté pour maximiser l’impact positif de cette révolution technologique sur nos sociétés.

L’échange a été animé par melissa bell, Senior International Correspondent chez CNN.

L’intelligence artificielle redéfinit nos économies et transforme en profondeur nos industries. Pourtant, les disparités dans son adoption demeurent importantes. Quels sont les freins actuels ? Quels leviers mobiliser pour accélérer son intégration et en faire un moteur de croissance inclusif et durable ?

Ce déjeuner a marqué une nouvelle étape du Cycle IA de la French-American Foundation - France initié en 2023, permettant, grâce à l’implication de ses Young Leaders et de ses membres corporate, de répondre pleinement aux enjeux du Sommet.

En l’espace de quelques jours, ce sont deux événements de haut niveau qui ont été proposés à nos membres, réunissant plus de 300 invités, experts et décideurs venus des deux rives de l’Atlantique pour échanger sur l’IA.

Last day of the 43rd annual Young Leaders seminar.

In the morning, Young Leaders delved into an eye-opening discussion on the U.S. election system, led by Board member and 2013 Young Leader Scott Handler. The group analyzed the historical and present-day influences weighing on our 2024 U.S. presidential election and explored how the outcome may impact the transatlantic relationship. Young Leaders also had the opportunity to reflect on their time together in during a self-led discussion on lessons in . Thank you to our hosting conference sponsor Greenberg Traurig, LLP for generously welcoming the Foundation to their Miami offices.

After enjoying some free time in Miami, Young Leaders, Board members, and friends of the Foundation gathered together one last time for a farewell reception and dinner hosted generously by Board Member of the French-American Foundation - United States and Chair of the 2024 Young Leaders conference, Anne Dias. Ms. Dias underlined the importance of the Franco-American friendship, and alongside FAF-U.S. Chair Edward C. Wallace, they encouraged Young Leaders to keep in touch with their Young Leader community and with the Foundation.

Young Leaders learned that next year’s conference will be held in , France!

On the third day of the Young Leaders program, participants delved into the city’s rich architectural landscape with an walking tour of Miami Beach, led by the Miami Design Preservation League.
 
The day continued with a meet-and-greet with special guest Craig Robins – developer, art collector, and Founder & CEO of Dacra. Robins, who is credited as a key preservationist of Miami Beach’s Art Deco Historic District, spoke to Young Leaders about his professional journey and his work’s impact on the evolving urban fabric of Miami. He guided our group through his private art collection at the Dacra offices and outside into the , helping Young Leaders appreciate how a former pineapple farm has transformed into a hub for innovative architecture and luxury shopping.
 
Young Leaders reconvened at The Moore, a historic venue, for lunch and afternoon sessions led by industry experts in and . Thank you to our speakers and Young Leader moderators for leading these conversations, including:

The second day of the seminar began at the University of Miami, where our 2023 and 2024 attended a morning panel focused on the impact of climate change in South Florida and the resilience strategies being implemented to address it. The discussion was led by Michael Berkowitz, Head of UMiami’s Climate Resilience Academy, and featured experts:

🔹 Francesca de Quesada Covey, Chief Innovation and Economic Development Officer, Miami-Dade County

Following the panel, we had the honor of welcoming keynote speaker, The Honorable Donna Shalala, former President of the University of Miami and former U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services. She engaged us in a discussion on , , and . Dr. Shalala shared insights from her personal and professional journey, reflecting on how her identity has influenced her career and leadership style. Young Leaders Marguerite Cazeneuve (FR Young Leader 2024) and Katherine Maher (U.S. Young Leader 2024) guided the conversation and facilitated a thoughtful Q&A session.
 
After a full morning of informative discussion, Meenakshi Chabba, Ph.D., Ecosystem and Resilience Scientist for The Everglades Foundation, led the group on an excursion to Everglades National Park. During a guided tour on air boats, Young Leaders had the opportunity to learn more about the diverse habitats of this unique and current efforts to protect it.
 
The day concluded at Joe’s Stone Crab Restaurant, where dinner and spirited conversation unfolded. It’s hard to believe that the third day marks the halfway point of the 2024 seminar—Young Leaders have immersed themselves in rich learning and exchanges, and we look forward to sharing more insights over the final two days of this year’s program.

We kicked off our first full day together with an inspiring welcome from Anne Dias, Board Member of the French-American Foundation - United States and Chair of the 2024 conference. As a French-American, she shared her deep connection to both the Foundation and the « Magic City » prior to our morning discussions hosted by Greenberg Traurig, LLP.

Throughout the day, we delved into Miami’s rich history, identity, and dynamic transformation over the last century, guided by insightful discussions with Nicholas Griffin, author of “The Year of Dangerous Days.” We also explored Miami’s evolving landscape of journalism and media with Alex Mena, Executive Editor, and Jane Wooldridge, Senior Director for Journalism Sustainability and Partnerships, at the Miami Herald.

The afternoon continued at Pérez Art Museum Miami where Young Leaders were welcomed by Director Franklin Sirmans and Chief Curator Gilbert Vicario, followed by a private tour of the galleries.

To close out the day, Young Leaders convened at Tiffany & Co. for a cocktail reception and toasts, followed by dinner at the Mandolin Aegean Bistro in Miami’s .

Les élections sans doute les plus décisives de cette année étaient en toile de fond des échanges : les présidentiellesaméricaines que nous ne manquerons pas de couvrir à la Fondation. 🇺🇸

Jeudi soir s’est tenue notre Assemblée générale annuelle, présidée par Jacques Aschenbroich en présence de plus d’une centaine de nos membres. L’occasion de révéler la 43ème promotion des Young Leaders pour l’année 2024 ⭐

🏆 Ces 6 femmes et 6 hommes, issus de milieux, de parcours et de professions variés, ont été choisis parmi près de 170 candidats. Les lauréats mettent en lumière les atouts de la France, son savoir-faire et son engagement dans un monde en mutation et alors que nos deux pays viennent de rappeler leur lien indéfectible.

Cette promotion incarne l’excellence française, avec un engagement significatif pour l’intérêt général, aussi bien dans les services de l’Etat, dans la diplomatie, que dans les engagements sociétaux.

Au travers de leurs actions, ils incarnent le leadership d’aujourd’hui et de demain.
