A girl follows a lone star outside her window, sneaks out to meet her skater and musician friends and goes to a gig. For their Spring Summer 2027 collection, Paolina Russo and Lucile Guilmard return to their adolescence, domestic craft, local sports and music that have long shaped their Paolina Russo world.

Ahead of their fourth Copenhagen Fashion Week show, during its 20th anniversary season, A Magazine’s Managing Editor Jemma Pinueva met the designers between fittings and final preparations to talk about growing up far from fashion capitals, building an independent label with your closest friends and learning to love the business side of fashion.

The conversation ended with a tarot reading. Paolina pulled The Star. The collection, fittingly, is called Lone Star.

More than a decade after founding J.Kim in Moscow, Jenia Kim returned to Tashkent, the city where she was born. What began as a personal search for identity gradually became a larger question: what does it mean to build something in the place you come from — and to take responsibility for what might come after you?

A Magazine Curated By’s Managing Editor Jemma Pinueva visited Jenia at her studio in Tashkent to talk about her Koryo-saram identity, building J.Kim from Uzbekistan, the fear that once drove her, and her hopes for a new generation of local designers.

In A Magazine Curated By W***y Chavarria, the feature ‘Act Up’ reunites surviving members of the ACT UP Latino Caucus for a candid conversation detailing their fight for HIV/AIDS awareness and how they established an autonomous, Spanish-speaking space to demand medical access for minority and immigrant communities. Conceived as a meeting point between several worlds, the story ‘Hommages’ (Homages) featured in ‘A Zine Curated for Paris Saint-Germain’ invites Anuar Khalifi, Kris Van Assche, Johanna Tordjman, Louis Gabriel Nouchi and Michèle Lamy to interpret the club through their different creative disciplines. Each creative translates the spirit of Paris Saint-Germain, with every piece uncovering a personal tie to the team, exploring the space where art, fashion and sports culture intersect.

‘J’ai toujours pensé que deux idées antagonistes pouvaient révéler le meilleur l’une de l’autre lorsqu’elles étaient associées de la bonne manière. Cette recherche d’op-position se retrouve dans les vases en bronze que j’ai créés : une laque mate à l’extérieur, un intérieur poli en or rose. C’est d’ailleurs la première fois que je vois moi-même des fleurs dans ce vase. Ici, pour le PSG, il est devenu trophée.’

‘J’ai une « presque-histoire » avec le Paris-Saint-Germain. Nous devions imaginer une installation ensemble autour de ma réinterprétation d’un siège original de tribune qui m’a été confié. Le projet n’a finalement pas eu lieu. Le siège est toujours chez moi. Qui sait, peut-être que cette histoire reste encore à écrire.‘

‘Cette œuvre choisit la célébration collective à la gloire individuelle. Les mains agrippées au maillot racontent l’émotion du football dans ce qu’elle a de plus universel :l’étreinte, le partage, l’appartenance. Au-delà des individualités, c’est l’idée d’une communauté réunie autour d’un même symbole qui est mise en lumière.’

Days before the opening of ‘Azzedine Alaïa and Africa’, we met with American artist kris.ruhs at the Fondation Azzedine Alaïa. A long-time friend and collaborator of the late designer, Ruhs was commissioned to create the exhibition’s scenography and a new series of paintings. These images capture the space as it was still taking shape.

His paintings frame each silhouette, extending the exhibition’s tribute to the African continent through rich earth tones and bold graphic forms.
