When this project started, Duo demanded I get Sean Bankhead for choreo. I tried to manage expectations and told Duo it would be pretty challenging to book Sean because he’s one of the most in-demand creatives in the industry. Duo waddled away, boots squeaking, mumbling something about making me an offer I couldn’t refuse. I woke up the next morning and found a severed remote camera head in my bed. That same day my producer Whitney booked Sean Bankhead and the rest is history.

All my korean friends know that my favorite thing to text them is “I haven’t heard from you for a while, what am I… Chap-chae? I tried to sneak this into the Duolingo commercial but unfortunately no one else found it funny. Anyway at least I got our actor Cortez to say the line despite it being left on the cutting room floor. Would you have cut the joke?

New artwork for DEAD CITY, coming to a billboard near you…
When Lauren first told me about the new Walking Dead spinoff that takes place in NYC, I immediately had an image in my mind of Maggie and Negan standing in the hollowed eye sockets of a decaying Statue of Liberty head. We eventually realized that Lady Liberty was actually not big enough for 2 people to stand in the eyes, but after a few mockups and revisions we arrived at another composition with the characters in the foreground. This final version was made by the amazing artists (they do all your favorite movie posters) with art direction and supervision by the AMC team: Ed Benitez, Nancy Hennings, Michelle Ragone, Ahmed Fakhr and Mark Williams and photography by James Dimmock.

A few months ago we shot 2 videos back to back with during her spring break from Harvard. We wanted to make a video that was just focused on the feral energy of her performance in the tiniest sweaty karaoke room in Ktown and shoot it on film. It was also the shortest shoot I’ve ever done because the room was booked that evening so we had to jump in and jump out before the karaoke crowd arrived. Thank you to everyone in the crew for making this one happen.
