🏆 UIA 2030 Awards | Third Cycle (2025–2026) | Category 6: Resilience & Adaptive Capacity to Climate-Related Disasters — SDG 13
The International Union of Architects, in partnership with UN-Habitat, is proud to announce the winner of Category 6 of the UIA 2030 Awards Third Cycle:
🥇 “Les Mamàs Belges Flooding Park”
Calatayud + Mira + Parraga + Sanchis — Spain 🇪🇸
Rather than resisting the forces of nature, this extraordinary project embraces them. Transforming a vulnerable river corridor into a resilient public landscape, the architects have reimagined flood risk as an opportunity for civic and ecological enhancement. Terraces, pathways, and carefully considered vegetation create a multifunctional environment that accommodates periodic flooding while safeguarding urban life — supporting biodiversity, recreation, and climate adaptation in equal measure. A visionary and deeply architectural response to the defining challenge of our time.
