Support for Ukrainian and opposition Russian creatives
The situation in Ukraine is devastating. At ArtyGeneration, we are concerned for the artists and creatives at risk in Ukraine, and for those opposing the war who are now vulnerable in Russia. We see various opportunities being launched in response to these needs, and we would like to share this information. We bring together links related to art residencies, funds and general support and we will keep this page as up-to-date as possible.
Check the list on our website 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻https://www.artygeneration.com/home/2022/3/28/support-and-resources-ukrainian-and-russian-anti-war
We hope that it will be helpful. If you have more suggestions to add, please contact us

The Russian independent cultural sector and the war in Ukraine
Now, during the time of Russian cultural isolation, we see a strong need to maintain dialogue and relationships with Russian creatives. They are megaphones for change, many of whom still share their voices and creation, despite being in a country where jail sentences, ostracization, and retribution are real dangers to those speaking out against the war.
In early March 2022, we decided to launch a small qualitative survey of the Russian independent sector to learn more about the effects of the war on international cultural collaboration, the risks for the (dissenting) independent Russian creative sector, and how Russian artists and creatives view the war in Ukraine.
This research is still ongoing, and over the next weeks, we’ll share with you what we learn from the research. Alongside this we’ll highlight artworks or creative expression by Russian creatives speaking out against the war.
Better understanding voices in the Russian independent sector does not mean that we stop thinking about what is happening in Ukraine. We continue our support: our support for those fleeing, our donations, and our advocacy.

Dear all, during these dark days we stand in solidarity with Ukraine and with all Russian people who don't support the war that is currently going on.
No words are strong enough to describe our grief over all people who became victims of these events. This war should be stopped!
Peace for Ukraine 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦

One month ago, a significant event happened in the Russian art market - galleries decided to unite. The formation of the Association of Galleries is a truly grassroots initiative that has become a new milestone for further development.
Among the Association's plans is providing assistance to its members, including legal, organisational and educational support. We met with two members of the Board - Sergey Popov, founder of Pop/off/art gallery, and Marina Gisich, founder of Marina Gisich Gallery, to discuss all the twists and turns of the Russian art market and the way the Association is planning to tackle current issues.

Yulia Belousova is a daring woman, who is not scared to mix, create, and do. Though Russian, she started her career in Europe and mostly lives in Berlin.
But while locked down in Moscow last Spring, she cooked up a new project: GIRL GIRL GIRL is the first gallery representing only post-Soviet women artists. In October, the first group exhibition BON VOYAGE opened in Paris at the Galerie Charraudeau.
Lucky enough to visit it before a second lockdown, we saw works by artists from Russia, Georgia, and Ukraine, such as Ekaterina Burlyga, Olya Kroytor, Katya Isaeva, Keta Gavasheli, Julia Tatarchenko, Apollinaria Broche, and AFFF Collective.
