Our Steps is a not for profit organization which celebrates Ireland's traditional dance & the story of its people through a range of innovative projects.

Our mission is to expand the way we think about the history, practice and performance of Irish Dance.

Interview with James McLaughlin recorded on Nov 1st 2021/conducted by Jean Butler.

James McLaughlin - originally from Donegal, Ireland - danced for the O`Neill School of Dancing under the tuition of Peggy O´Neill in Glasgow, Scotland. Later he became a TCRG and has been teaching together with his wife - Kathleen - at the McLaughlin School of Irish Dance which has recently celebrated its 60th Anniversary.

Kathleen McLaughlin is from Glasgow and she danced for Frances Teese, Peggy O Neill and Charlie Kelly. She became a TCRG and ADCRG and has been teaching together with his husband - James - at the McLaughlin School of Irish Dance which has recently celebrated its 60th Anniversary.

Interview with Kathleen Maguire-O´Shea recorded on Nov 3rd 2020/conducted by Jean Butler.

Kathleen Maguire-O´Shea is a three-time World champion dancer from Tottenham, England.
She danced competitively for Mr. Ted Kavanagh. Kathleen and her husband - Michael Maguire - have run the famed Maguire-O´Shea Academy of Irish Dance for over 50 years.

Interview with Mona Roddy-Lennon recorded on Nov 5th 2020/conducted by Jean Butler.

Mona Roddy-Lennon is a three-time All Ireland champion dancer from Dundalk, Ireland.
She danced competitively for Mrs. Matthews (Mrs. M). before becoming one of Ireland´s most successful and respected dance teachers and an adjudicator with An Coimisiún.

Seán Ogle from Queens in New York and danced competitively with the McNiff School of Irish Dance under the tuition of Cyril McNiff and Joan McNiff Cass. He later became a TCRG and ADCRG with An Coimisiún.

Interview with John Jennings recorded on Jul 24, 2018/conducted by Kristyn Fontanella.

John Jennings began dancing competitively for the Kenny Verlin School and then the Donny Golden School, where he won the World Championships in 1988, becoming Donny’s second male world champion.

John is a certified adjudicator and teaches at the Shea-Jennings School of Irish Dance in New Jersey.

Stephen Gallagher, from New York, danced for the Golden School of Irish Dancing. Stephen was one of the first male Irish-Americans to win the World Championships in Irish dancing in 1976.

Cara Butler, from New York, danced for the Golden School of Irish Dancing. Cara is a traditional dancer and choreographer, having performed as soloist with “The Chieftains” for many years and in her own dance collective, “The StepCrew”.
