SEO is a whole-ass skillset. Respect it accordingly.
Start by dispelling these myths (extra credit if you dig deep and explore WHY you held these misconceptions in the first place!)
When I go into prospective client calls, there are yellow flags I DON’T hold against anyone:
🟡 “Our developer said they’d handle the SEO.”
🟡 “Just change the alt-text, that should be enough to rank number one.”
🟡 “Should this meta description be exactly 160 characters?”
Totally common misconceptions. Totally understandable. But also? Totally might be holding you back.

My relationship with is complicated, and I know I'm not alone.
Every time I come across another professional around my age (especially if they're also LGBTQ+ and a person of color), we speak frankly about how the platform makes us feel like we have to perform a certain way just to get what this platform is actually very good at doing: getting clients, jobs––a livelihood. 💵🏡
So how do we reconcile this as the next generation of workers? 🤨
It lies in finding authenticity on a platform where that may not seem natural.
I promise you, though, it's there. And LinkedIn can be a tool for you to live the dignified life you are entitled to. 💪🏼

I’m teaming up with ***rency for !
When Queerency came to me with the brilliant idea of focusing on the fashion industry for its September Guide, I was ecstatic.
Finally, a media platform that understood that q***r fashion is already made up of robust communities, with exciting emerging trends that I've hardly seen anyone talk about.
Countless LGBT+ entrepreneurs and fashion professionals are already doing the work of representing those they cater to; there just isn't a centralized platform telling their stories.
So over the past month, Queerency and I have been working together to tap into the world of q***r fashion and BUSINESS!
Because of this project, I was finally able to explore something that I struggled with so hard since finishing grad school:
How do I take all the knowledge and research I learned from my master’s thesis on q***r fashion and translate all that flowery academic language into something that can be accessible to others?
It was through this project that I realized that my entire career is dedicated to discovering the nuanced definitions of q***r fashion and giving professional resources and marketing help to this already existing community of LGBT entrepreneurs.
In the inaugural Queerency Guide to Fashion, we talk to a diverse set of fashion professionals from models, historians, and photographers to textile artists, designers, and of course, business owners to give you a 360-degree view of the state of the fashion industry.
