J’arrive!
Je suis tres fatigue.

I arrived a few days ago and I’m completely exhausted.
Staying in an for 3 months to support my visa then move into my own place.
This kind of move is not for the faint at heart. It’s physically grueling and my body is hating me now. BUT the people here have been incredibly helpful and kind and welcoming to me. My French is coming back and can communicate, for the most part. Pas de problem (thus far).
Today my 8 giant bags of clothing arrive through via and I pray they didn’t explode over the
Posting for the next month or so will be tres dificile as unpacking, dealing with phone, internet, etc. will be a lot especially with the chronic fatigue.
For any of you who’ve thought about making a life change I say like it just takes a little courage and determination.
and my expat groups have been my support and guiding lights because and my friends, who are my family in LA have and are keeping me happy and feeling loved. A huge merci to all and in 3 months I’ll have my own place and “Hotel Felicia” will be ready for visitors😉
See you fashionable people soon. I’m anything but fashionable these days but a number of people surprisingly stop me on the street about my jacket and my Lakers beanie. I’ve still got it🤣

Style Story: Don’t be so Literal (part 2)
I bought this kimono in Osaka many years ago for my mom. When she passed away, I took it for myself. The lovely print and the soft colours remind me of her but I had to make it my own. Back to my tailor Suzanna in for a redo.
A while back I asked Suzanna to put 2 sets of snaps into the inside placket of a dress that I could criss-cross. I wanted to create a 1920’s drape - I think it’s so flattering on the body. I asked her to do it again and the result - perfection. I’m obviously going for a 20s style look and pinned a large brooch where the snaps close to emphasize the beautiful draping. This dress has only one point of closure so there’s quite a bit of flowy movement and if you’re not careful - you’re totally exposed. Thankfully, I’m very conscious of the situation😉
My silver beaded skull cap, chainmail handbag, and silver strappy sandals come together to give me the modern 20s vibe I’m going for.
It doesn’t take much to pull a good evening look together. Remember, fashion is cyclical. As much as we think we’re seeing something “new” believe me when I tell you we’re not. I’m sure, like me you have items in your wardrobe that can be reinvented or restyled into other fabulous pieces. This goes back to knowing what you’ve got. Whether or not you have a big or small wardrobe is not the point rather it’s about what you do with it.

Style Story: Don’t be so Literal (part 1)
Says the most literal person in the world. When it comes to conversation, I’m literal to fault but with clothing, I’m quite the opposite. Just because an item is labeled “a robe” doesn’t mean it necessarily has to be used as one and that goes for many things in our closets.
I’ve been looking for a velvet print coat for the longest time but haven’t found “the one” as yet and I refuse to settle. I decided to go in another direction and looked for a robe instead - so much easier and so much less expensive. I went onto and saw this beauty with its vibrant colours and gorgeous animal/floral wallpaper print and knew it was the one. Now, nothing’s perfect. I don’t love the stripe lining but I can live with ot or change it, if I choose.
To elevate it from a robe to a fabulous evening coat I attached a faux fur collar to it with a tagging gun, (because I like options), and voila! Fabulousness achieved. My coat looks like 💰when in fact, it was not.
I’m wearing my new coat over my bias cut slip dress with a pair of high sandals and vintage satin bag. I’m also wearing a pair of aqua coloured teardrop earrings (one of the many colours in my coat).
All together, my evening look is inexpensive, easy to put together and mostly from my closet. This goes back to being familiar with what you already have and filling in the missing pieces. Rather than consuming more and more for each season and trend, I’m able to focus on what I really want and need to expand or build upon what I already have to keep my wardrobe fresh.
💕pro-tip: don’t be literal with your wardrobe. Expand your mind to expand your wardrobe.

Style Story: Get the Moves
One of the big trends for is Whether it’s beads, leather, or silk, like mine it’s all about movement and my fringe skirt certainly has it. Here ’s the story behind it…
You may or may not remember my black velvet/fringe dress from past posts. Originally, it was my mothers and when I was a kid I wore it for Halloween as a long dress then as an adult as a I felt like I’d get much more use out of it as a skirt so I took it to my brilliant tailor Suzanna in where she did her magic. I asked her to give me the top part of the dress back and realized it could still be useful as a top with high waist pants so I took it back and asked her to put in a zipper - stay tuned.
I’ve styled my cool day to evening look with an oversized white poplin blouse worn unbuttoned and wrapped. Something about the wrapped body looks a bit more elevated and unexpected and it’s a nice contrast to the slim skirt.
My shorter length leather jacket creates a nice balance between the longer length of the skirt and my blouse. It also adds more textural interest and pairs with my leather sling backs. Ive pushed up the sleeves and left my shirt sleeves long and un-cuffed. I like the strong pops of white at the collar and sleeve so much so it inspired my choice of handbag.
We all know that and are strong for the season and this little baguette combines both. It also adds more texture to make my look a lot more interesting.
My black fur was a no-brainer. It adds a vibe that’s indescribable and brings the whole look together.
It’s hard to see in the pix but I’m wearing a vintage rhinestone short necklace. The shape is very princess like and ties back to the vintage feel from the fringe skirt.

Style Story: Bring in ‘da Noise, Bring in ‘da Funk
We don’t think of a suit as casual but when use it just as a base to build on we can come up some really fun looks. My slim pinstripe suit gets a whole new casual vibe with sparkle and layers. Out with the stuffy and in with the funk. Here’s what I did…
It’s hard to tell but my pants are super high waisted, straight, and slim. I thought I’d play with proportions using a blouse warn over them and open at the bottom. The blouse-over keeps that long vertical line intact which is why my little crop sweater vest over it works so well. I left the large sleeve cuffs, unbuttoned and long to mirror the body of the shirt - this creates a proportional balance between my garments.
My silver metallic boots not only pick up the silver lurex in my vest, they add a great reflective quality against my satin blouse.
Because this look isn’t “suit typical” I brought in my furry bucket hat to complete the look.
💕pro-tip: when it comes to “funking” up a suit or any more conservative garments it’s important to create a balance of trend and proper use of proportion.

Style Story: Equal Parts Flat and Shine
Back in grey and silver but I used equal parts flat and reflective pieces for my easy elevated casual look. I’ve kept all the shine below my waist with silver boots, sequin skirt, and chain-mail handbag. When we place all of our reflective items together, in my case downward they push the light upward. This is really important especially because my and beanie have a heavier weightier read. And with the oversized jacket, it could look very top-heavy and out of proportion that’s why the sparkle below the waist work so well, here.
Mixing dull and shine is a great way to extend our wardrobe and get the most out of the items we may consider dressy or holiday.
