Look back at Dark Hours
Today, Menhir FX is happy to share with you an edit of cutscenes we made for differents Dark Hours trailers.
Dark Hours is a co-op horror game where robbers break in, the lights go out, and something far worse than security guards starts hunting them down. Horrifying. But very funny. Completely unhinged. Exactly the kind of energy we love at Menhir FX.
For this project, we handled the full pipeline: script, 3D animation, character and environment creation, and video editing. Every environment had its own identity and every monster had to feel like it belonged there.
The challenge was holding two very different tones in the same frame: the humor of a heist crew, and the genuine dread of what's chasing them.
Huge thanks to Piece of Cake Studios for trusting us with their universe and giving us the room to go all in. 🎬

Creating a character 🎭
Based on the original concept by , we brought this character to life for Split Brain Samsara's release trailer!
All strated from a script... 💭
At Menhir FX, everything we create starts from a script. And we always ask ourselves the same questions: how to show, how to make sense without words, how to create that specific feeling...
Then the magic of animation does the rest!
Depuis 1 mois, on a ouvert notre chaine youtube ! Bon on essaie de faire des trucs sérieux mais le naturel revient très vite...
Hésitez pas à allez checker notre denier short sur le making of de Beyond the Plastic Wall, le lien est en bio 😉
Split Brain Samsara: 2 players, 1 character, 2 different realities.
Split Brain is a co-op puzzle game where you and a friend share control of a single body. One navigates, the other sees what the first one can't. Think together, or you're not getting out.
For this reveal trailer, we started from a script and then we designed a 3D bumper as a fully original opening sequence crafted to pull the viewer into the world of game before a single mechanic is shown.
From that foundation, the tension was allowed to build: in-game captures selected and edited to progressively reveal the split perspective, the asymmetry between the two players and the way communication becomes the core mechanic. The trailer closes on a motion-designed CTA with the same energy and intentionality, nothing left to chance.
Split Brain Samsara will be showcased at the Cerebral Puzzle Showcase, a dedicated event celebrating the best of puzzle game design. If you're into games that genuinely make you think, and make you feel, this is one to watch.
Big thanks to Kusa Games for their trust and for building a game with such a clear and singular vision. That kind of creative clarity makes our job genuinely exciting.

Menhir FX is back with this creation's making of!
From the rough design to the final VFX, we handled this whole creative process.
Y a des jours où c'est pas facile de bo**er au studio...
Menhir FX had the pleasure of working on a trailer for such an iconic game, , on the occasion of its 10th anniversary.
asked us to build a trailer about the main threat of the game: The Entity!
The idea was to create a heavy atmosphere that grows deeper and deeper:
One Entity. Loud. Strong. Dominant. Unavoidable.
The Entity had to be at the center of the narration.
We wanted the viewer to identify with the character and feel that same sense of helplessness, somewhere between a nightmare and reality.
To carry that feeling, we built everything from scratch. Several scripts were written in order to find the one that best described the sensations evoked by the Entity. We create diverse poses for each illustration so that we can animate them in a 3D world, creating depth and making the whole experience more immersive.
And then, to strengthen all of this, a voice over that intensifies as the trailer moves foward. The dead-end feeling increases. All of this contributes to make the universe even more unsettling. The script of this VO was written in close collaboration with Behaviour Interactive and recorded by their team.
We would like to thank Catherine Gamble, Alexandra Assaad and Pascal Le Roux for the opportunity and the trust on that project!
Huge thanks to our team for bringing this one to life. Special mention to Thomas and Marc whose illustrations gave this trailer the weight it deserved. Every frame was a piece of art before it even started moving.

We had the chance to work on something truly special. 🎬
Beyond the Plastic Wall is a narrative puzzle game about identity, memory, and transformation. Every single detail of its world was designed to make you feel something. The worn textures, the faded aesthetics, the quiet sense of loss built into every frame.
Our job at Menhir FX? To make sure the trailer carried that same weight.
We collaborated closely with the developers to craft a cinematic edit of in-game scenes. We started from a script. We wanted to tell the story of the game, not just showcase it. Every shot was a deliberate choice: what to show, when to show it, and how to let the atmosphere breathe without giving everything away.
This is exactly the type of project we live for: a game with a soul, a team with a vision, and the creative challenge of translating both into motion.
A huge thank you to the developers for their trust, their vision, and for letting us dive so deep into their universe. And to Arte and especially Diana Stoïca, for making this collaboration possible. 🙏
The trailer is out now, go feel it for yourself. 😄
