S.O.H - Life on Edge Tape

L.A. bands are so fu***ng good. There’s something in the smog and sun that consistently spits out the best rage and primal energy. I was awaiting this one eagerly like a hungry animal, as this is last year’s ass-ripper of a cassette put to wax and unlike the usual waste of resources out there, this one deserves it. SYSTEM OF HATE is what those initials stand for, but it could easily be SICK OF HUMANS from the amount of carnage left in this band’s wake. Featuring a member of the excellent PRISION POSTUMO as well as other notable SoCal all-stars, this all-too-short, six-song steamroller is driven by the fiercest vocalist I’ve heard in some time. Black Everest - demo 7″

Somewhere between Hardcore, Screamo but also Post-rock and Crust this demo 7″ is to class in. Extremely powerful, yet playful and not too fiddly. In between a synthesizer provides a kind of epic atmosphere. (Almost feels like a surrounding spaceship). The four guys from Berlin, Hamburg and Oldenburg manage the balancing act between hard and fast parts and moodful melodies. to find a specific classification is difficult – a too wide-ranging musical spectrum had obviously influence on the five songs. If you cant imagine this, you should get this record and make your own impression. Available in black vinyl.

Reversal Of Man – Nothing More Nothing Less - 2x Cassette Boxset

A cassette reissue of Reversal of Man's amazing collected discography 3xLP released a few years back on Repeater Records.
This boxset Includes 2 cassette tapes (clear red & yellow shell), a fold out newsprint poster, a 44page booklet with various photos and fliers. All house in a 5"x5" box. A truly beautiful set and a labour of love.
"Between 1995 and 2000, the band released a full length LP, three split LPs, a 10”, various split 7”s and compilation tracks, all collected here along with the demo that kicked off their brief but influential time together. In the five years they existed, stretching members between Tampa and Orlando, Reversal of Man grew through several lineup changes and the resulting evolution of their sound while somehow managing numerous out of state fest appearances, touring the entire US (including a six week run with Tampa grind legends Assuck and an ill-fated nine week monster with combatwoundedveteran), and one last run through Europe before laying the band to rest for good. As the youth are known to be restless, the band still found time to write and record constantly amid the touring and local shows and their entire studio output is included in this discography. A fitting tribute to the long shadow they have cast."

Contraction - demain est annulé LP

Demain Est Annulé (tomorrow is canceled) is the first album from indie rockers Contractions from France. Written in Lyon, arranged in Besançon, Demain Est Annulé makes an intimate link between the future and the past of its creators. It sums up their previous experiences with their previous bands (Daitro, Baton Rouge, Hawaii Samurai, The Irradiates) and brings into the light the massive musical knowledge / experiences they acquired through the years thanks to their involvement in the local indie / punk scene of their hometowns *

This album has been recorded and mixed by Bruno Germain at L'Epicerie Moderne in Lyon, France in the beginning of 2019, then mastered by Mikey Young (Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Total Control) in Melbourne, Australia in may 2019. It got inspired by melodies coming from Kiwi Pop bands + contemporary indie garage bands such as Parquet Courts, The Babies or Reigning Sound, mixed with raw energy inherited from their DIY punk background and a common worship for Hot Snakes and 60s UK/US garage bands.

Contractions though know they won't bring anything new. Because novelty is not really the point here… behind its obvious simplicity, the songwriting is very subtle. Every song has a hook. Arrangements are precise. The melodic vocals are often on the edge of being in tune. Every element of the songs and their recording actually point in the unique direction of looking for the genuine emotion.

There also is in Julien's lyrics this disturbing and familiar sense of realism in the abstraction. They go through personal / intimate topics (Juste Derrière Chez Moi, Un autre Temps, Dans la peau), to this will of staying far from the dominant mass and praising the underground cultures (Passe Par le Detour, Un jour qui traîne). There is also social reflexions about the last riots / social movements in France (Trace En Ville, Demain Est Annulé) and last but not least about sexual assaults in the punk community (Rien n'est Acquis), which is a painful topic to deal with.

Nuvolascura - how this all ends Tape

After a very lengthy and difficult wait of five years, California's most original and talented four-piece are ready to unveil their third full length. 10 tracks of absolute ridiculousness, as the band embraces their heaviest, their most complex, as well as their most creative to date. Opener "if portals are linear; you'll die soon enough" makes it blatantly obvious how impactful the album will be and closing track "polar destinies" eclipses the six-minute mark, pushing the envelope further than they ever have. There’s also relatively straight-forward sections (by Nuvolascura standards, at least) on tracks “last embers of awareness” and “before you disappeared”, some incredible clean singing on “figment of reality”, as well as technical wizardry on “cordiform projection” and “ex cryptids”. This tape is limited to 100 pcs for their Asian Tour 2025.

Snöras - complete discography 3x CD Boxset

Snöras ("avalanche" in Norwegian) is a one-man project from Norway with the intention of it to create a trilogy, Heart Of Weakness - Plague Waters & Life In The Gutter. Yngve Hilmo founded Snöras in 2005 and all music (bass, guitar, drums, vocals) is written by him, with help from Kenneth Lamond (Jr Ewing) on the drums. Snöras' second album, "Plague Waters", was released on Fysisk Format in September 2008 and features members of Angora Static and Lukestar.
With a search for the holy riff, the result is a cohesive mix of driving melodies which get to your head all at once.

The "Snoras - Complete Discography" review describes it as a collection of intense and passionate Norwegian screamo from the 2000s, characterized by its unique and sometimes blurred blend of original emo/screamo. While some critics found the songs to be consistently good without many standout tracks, others consider it a tremendous and unique record, particularly for fans of modern emo.
