The name «Fata Morgana» came to me for a reason. Summer began with intense heat, and this top was on my needles at that exact time. The name felt natural: hot air, shimmering haze, almost a mirage.
But knitting it did not feel hot at all. The yarn is truly made for summer: a light and soft cotton/lyocell blend that feels lovely against the skin.
The hardest part was not the knitting, but taking the photos. I had to wait all day until the sun was almost below the horizon, so the light would become softer and the heat less intense.
The pattern includes sizes XS/S/M/L/XL/XXL.
Yarn usage: Kremke Morning Salutation Fino 3/3/4/5/6/6 skeins.
The «Fata Morgana» top pattern is now available on Ravelry. Link in bio👆🏽
Despite the heat, I’m continuing to work on my top in Kremke Morning Salutation.
Today I’ll show you how I sew the side seams using a backstitch seam. It’s quite simple and meditative.
The main thing to remember: the needle should pass through each stitch twice.

Turns out, the hardest part is knitting a piece from the bottom up and not being able to properly try it on almost until the very end.
That’s why I love top-down constructions: you can check the fit as you go.
But this time, the first try-on will be a surprise. Hopefully, a nice one.
You can see in the photo that I’ve already washed one half of the front, just to see how the fabric would behave. I just couldn’t wait 😅
There’s very little left to do: sew the side seams and finish the armholes, neckline, and hem. And that’s it, the top will be ready.
I can’t wait to finally try it on. Fingers crossed.
I’m currently knitting a summer top in Morning Salutation vegan fino .
The yarn feels beautiful in the fabric: cool, smooth, with a soft silky sheen. It’s a blend of tencel and cotton, so the fabric comes out fluid, flexible, and drapes really nicely.
I decided to knit this top in separate pieces: the front and back are worked separately, then I’ll seam the sides and stabilize the shoulders. I don’t use this construction method very often, but here it feels like the right choice. The yarn is soft and quite fluid, and the seams should help the garment hold its shape better when worn.
I really like how it looks in the swatch: even texture, a lovely fluid fabric, and that light summer feeling.
I highly recommend Morning Salutation for summer tops, light tees, and warm-weather projects.
Have you tried it yet?

Today I’m sharing another way to bind off your stitches.
🌟Save this post for later and don’t forget to leave a like❤️
Elastic and textured bind-off. Suitable for binding off stitches on both the right side and the wrong side of the work.
1. Purl the first stitch, then purl the second stitch as well.
2. With the working yarn behind the work, transfer both stitches back to the left needle.
3. Bring the yarn to the front of the work, purl the first stitch on the left needle, then purl the next two stitches together.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until all stitches are bound off.
Save this technique for your next project.

😅Funny how it goes: I spent almost 10 days knitting the previous Gerda mittens, even though I said they were a very quick project. But at some point, the process turned out to be rather painful for me. Maybe knitting winter pieces in summer is not the best idea, ahahah 😂
This bourette silk tee, though, is absolutely lovely. It is knitting up at a fantastic speed. The first photo shows my progress after three days, and I’m planning to finish it by Monday.
All the other photos are just a little chronicle of these beautiful days.
