It is with immense sadness that the Multihulls World team learned of the passing of Charlie Dalin, who died on June 11, 2026, at the age of 42.

A naval architect by training, the Norman skipper leaves behind the image of an exceptionally gifted sailor, universally respected for his talent, humility, and dedication. Beyond the champion, it is the man himself who inspired admiration.
Following his victory in the 2024-2025 Vendée Globe, Charlie revealed that he had been battling a gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). Despite his illness, he found the physical and mental strength to win the world's most demanding solo round-the-world race.

Today, the maritime world has lost one of its finest figures.

The entire editorial team of Multihulls World extends its deepest condolences to his wife Perrine, to their son Oscar, to his family, friends, loved ones, and to all those who accompanied him throughout his remarkable career.
