A Brief Explanation of How Laser Printers Work
Laser printers operate by static electricity which signals to the drum unit to begin rolling. From there, the laser begins to draw the print job using a small beam of light. Once drawn, the printer will coat the drum with the powder—toner. The drum then rotates and pulls a page through to press the toner into the desired drawing from the laser to create the print. In very simple terms, that’s how laser printers do their job. So, what’s the deal with these drum units and toner cartridges?

The Toner Cartridge
These cartridges contain a powder that ultimately becomes your text or image. The powder is primarily plastic particles that remain in a reservoir until an electrostatic charge attracts the particles to the paper. The toner cartridge is the part you’ll replace on your printer because it’s consumable, while you don’t change the drum unit nearly as often.

The Drum Unit
While it’s not the component with the color, the drum unit is the component that makes the text or image stick to the page. For instance, the drum unit is the width of the printer—usually the width of a standard piece of paper. Once it triggers the static electricity, the laser can perform its sketch. From here, the drum has a rolling mechanism that attracts toner particles to appropriate spots on the page based on the static electricity formed by the laser’s sketch.

In general, the toner particles are a negative charge while the drum unit is a positive charge. Hence the attraction through electrostatic charges. Most individuals aren’t familiar with the drum unit since it lasts longer than toner cartridges, but that’s because the cartridges have a limited amount of toner inside them. In other words, toner cartridges are consumables while drum units aren’t. However, toner cartridges are expensive if you’re getting them from the manufacturer or office stores, and they take a toll on the environment.

The Office Pace Yap Branch is looking for qualified candidates who will have proven experience working directly with copies/or copier repair.

Responsibilities include:

• As a Digital Copier Technician, you will support the assigned workload based on Document Printing Standards;
• You will install, maintain, and repair company products and systems, on-site; use diagnostics tools, service aids, and products schematics to troubleshoot and resolve equipment and systems failure.
• Manage parts inventory and territory to comply with established operating standards and perform machine factory modification and software/operating systems upgrades of equipment to ensure optimum performance.
• Ability to solve basic issues to complete production, delivery, and output requirement.
• Perform basic quality inspections before, during and after the output of each production run.
• Collect Data and respond to print/copy equipment issues by contacting service personnel using specific PC applications.
• Track move/add/change of office equipment assets at customer accounts using PC.
• Open and scan incoming mail for electronic distribution per customer requirements.
• Operate high-volume folding and inserting equipment.
• Ability to perform minimal training to customer end-users on equipment.

Qualifications:
In order to be considered, candidates must possess the following qualifications.
• High School diploma or equivalent and A+ certification or equivalent
• Minimum of one – two years of related field experience as a technician working with business technology such as copier, printer or potter required.
• Education or experience in electronic/mechanical repair is required.
• Thorough knowledge of and demonstrate the ability to apply computer technology to customer requirements for networked products and system solutions.
• Ability to attend product training classes as required.
• Able to lift 50 lbs and can be in a mobile activity more than 50% of the time (waking/standing/stooping/kneeling).
• PC literacy and understanding of basic network concepts.
• Must be proficient in English, both written as well as spoken.
• Must hold a valid Yap State driver’s license.
• Travelling outside of Territory and/or district may be required.
• Salary will be based on qualification.

We have just recently completed our Early Childhood Education furniture project. We were tasked to furnish the newly completed ECE building in Dinay Rull. Furnitures included specialized children's furniture as well as work cubicles, file drawer cabinets, office desks and chairs for office staff and 2 conference rooms. All furniture are by our U.S. partner brands Jonti-Craft, HON and Virco. One of the many bids from the national governments that we have successfully won.
