Archbishop Peter Loy Chong

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Grace and peace to you all.

As I reflect on the twelfth anniversary of my ministry as your Archbishop this 8th of June, my heart overflows with gratitude. These years have been a journey of faith, hope, and loveβ€”made possible by your prayers, encouragement, and steadfast support. Together, we have witnessed God’s hand at work in our Archdiocese, and together, we continue to answer His call.

Each year, our Archdiocese launches an annual appealβ€”a sacred invitation to join hands in supporting the mission entrusted to us by Christ.
This year, I invite you to look with hope and compassion at the needs before us, and to respond with the generosity that has always defined our community.

We are called to form and nurture leaders for the Church.
At the Pacific Regional Seminary, twenty young men are discerning their call to the priesthood, preparing to serve God’s people. Through the Catechist Training Centre, we equip nearly ninety catechists each yearβ€”men and women who bring the light of Christ to our villages, teaching, guiding, and inspiring faith in every corner of Fiji. Their dedication is a living testament to the power of God’s call.

We are called to be the hands and heart of Christ to those in need.
Through the Fr. Law Home, we offer dignity and care to our elders. The Sacred Kitchen provides daily nourishment and hope to the homeless. Caritas Fiji stands ready to respond to disasters, bring clean water, and advocate for justice. In every act of charity, we see the face of Christ in our brothers and sisters.

We are called to educate and form the next generation.
With 43 primary schools, 19 secondary schools, and a teacher training college, our Archdiocese is shaping minds and hearts for the future. Our parishes nurture faith, ensuring that Catholic education remains a beacon of truth, compassion, and excellence.

This year’s Annual Appeal will be launched on the 27th June, the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, our patron, and will conclude on July 31st. I invite you to prayerfully consider how you might share your blessingsβ€”knowing that every gift, no matter the size, is multiplied by God’s grace.
You may give through the envelopes in the pews or at the church doors, or by sending your donation directly to the Archdiocese of Suva Office:

Dear friends, your generosity is a beacon of hope. It brings comfort to the lonely, food to the hungry, education to the young, and faith to every corner of our land. Everything we have is a gift from God, and when we give with joyful hearts, we become instruments of His love.

Let us continue to walk together in faith, trusting that God, who has begun this good work in us, will bring it to completion. May the Sacred Heart of Jesus bless you and your families abundantly.

With heartfelt gratitude and every blessing,

+ Archbishop Peter Loy Chong
