GENUINE FAITH THAT SAVES SOULS.

To place your faith in Jesus is like standing on the edge of a cliff and being asked to jump into the unknown. You have a sure footing, safety, and security where you are at on the edge, where your feet and whole being rests. Out there is the void and empty space and then you are asked to believe and trust in Jesus who is out there and will catch you when you take the leap off the edge. So taking the leap means trusting the unseen more than the reality of standing on solid ground.

Faith in Jesus means trusting Him above the security, comfort and safety offered by the world which we know and experience all the time. In trusting and believing in Him, a person makes the decision to lay his life down for Jesus and His purpose. Laying his life means giving up his own desires, aspirations, ambition and will to follow whatever and wherever Jesus leads. This is examplified all too well in the many faith stories in the Bible, where the character has to leave the comfort and security of the known and seen to obey and follow God into the unknown and yet to be seen.

Noah showed it in building the ark, believing that there is going to be a real flood therefore investing his wealth and time in constructing the ark. Abraham did it in leaving his home, family, relatives and land to go to a place unknown to him. Rahab the pr******te did it when she opts to hide the Israelite spies and to mislead his own king and army. Ruth did it in leaving her homeland, relatives and security to follow her old and heirless mother-in-law to a foreign people and foreign land and an uncertain future; and many more examples of heroes of faith in the bible. Even Paul the apostle implied it when he asked the question, "Lord, what do you want me to do?" He was willingly laying down everything, even his life to be at the disposal of Jesus.

Jesus portrayed it in the parable of the kingdom being likened to a hidden treasure in a field which a person finds and then sells all that he has just to purchase the field. He clearly spells it out in saying that he who loves his life in this world will lose it, but he who loses his life for Him will keep it. Jesus also said that whoever does not give up all that he has, cannot be His follower. The conditions of following Jesus which are the denial of self and the carrying of the cross encapsulate the definition of faith. The cross which is the instrument of capital punishment of the death sentence must be readily accepted by the follower or believer of the Lord Jesus, and he should carry it away from the village or city, away from family, friends and vocation, to the outskirts where certain death awaits. There is no other agenda, but the leaving of the life in the city or village ( this world) and the carrying of the cross and following Jesus which ends where the cross is put up and the person is staked on it. This denial of self willingly and the acceptance that death is the ultimate price to pay, is faith.

Therefore, the defining trait of genuine faith is the willingness to leave the secure and sure reality for an unknown future with Jesus. This kind of faith results in the salvation of souls. Anything less is not genuine biblical faith and therefore can not draw the power of the shedding of the blood on the cross to blot out sins, nor can it destroy the body of sin of the old man or even to regenerate the spirit in the new birth. This lesser degree of faith is no faith at all and only increases church membership but not genuine born again saints.

Jesus left Heaven for you. Can you leave the world for Jesus?

Romans 6:5 : "For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:"

Saul (Paul) asked Jesus,

"What do you want me to do, Lord?"

THIS QUESTION...

* Shows the total surrender of will and self to the Lordship of Christ.

* Shows the denial of selfish and personal desires and ambitions.

* Shows the willingness to follow Jesus at whatever cost.

* Shows real faith, belief and trust in Jesus.

CAN YOU HONESTLY ASK THIS QUESTION TO GOD AND BE WILLING TO OBEY?

John 12:25
"Anyone who loves his life will lose it. Anyone who hates his life in this world will keep it forever."

The simple Good News of God's love for you...

THE GOSPEL (Good News).

1. God is HOLY and Righteous, but...

2. you are a SINNER and can not be reconciled to God on your own terms,...

3. yet God LOVES you so much that ...

4. He offered HIS SON to stand in your place and bear the consequences of your sins by receiving the DEATH penalty on your behalf, and...

5. the only way to receive this redemptive work (remission of sins and the gift of eternal life) is to BELIEVE in Jesus by confessing Him as Lord of your life.

Why?

Observe the content of their prayers (request), which shows the desires of their hearts.

No.1 : "....Save yourself and save us also."

No.2 : ".... Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom."

What do you pray about?

Why do you serve God?

Be careful of what you truly desire.
You might br seeking and serving God for the wrong reasons.

Which sinner are you?
- The one who is not willing to die for his sins or the one who is willing to die because he is a sinner.
- The one seeking God for the world or the one seeking God for heaven?

May we search our hearts and be found to truly desire God above the world.
