Proceeds of Kava farming and sacrifices....

EARNING MONEY FROM TOILING THE LAND.......

Toma Baleinakase and Sovita Qionikawa at the CDP Savusavu office after delivering bags of Kava to be sent to Suva for Kava Direct.

In the past 3 weeks, Sovira has collected over $7,000 from the sale of his kava to kava Direct.

According to Toma, he would have collected less than $4,500 if he had sold it in Savusavu........

This is part of 3 shipment of kava from Karoko village, Tunuloa, Cakaudrove sent to Kava Direct.....

Toma and I outside his new house when I went to buy his Kava last month. Toma is just one of the many men and women in our rural areas who prove that if they work hard and make right decisions, there is so much they can achieve....

Toma used the money he received from Kava Direct to built a new 3 Bedroom House at his village in Karoko, Tunuloa, Cakaudrove, shown on the photo below.

Toma Baleinakase has been selling Kava Direct his Kava since December 2019. He did that while living in his current house. (see photo below)

Mosese's uncle Laisenia Navukitu who made the arrangement for my buying his Kava advised Mosese to use the money wisely and built himself and his family a house.

Mosese traded the Kasa of his uprooted Kava with a matured mahogany tree that belong to another Mataqali. He and Laisenia then cut the tree down and rip it into building timber. He then used the money I gave him to buy other materials for his house.

This is his new house where he now lives, built just next to his old house.

At the time of purchase and when the previous photo was taken, Mosese, his wife and three children were living in a small tin shack circled in red.

This is Mosese Nasaumaki of Lodoni village in Tailevu who I bought $6,400 worth of dried Kava from.
